The method includes: aggregating, by a terminal, N images in a gallery based on a first dimension, where the first dimension includes a photographing time and/or a photographing location, and N&#x3e;1; and removing, by the terminal, an invalid image from the N images, to obtain the story album comprising the M images, wherein the invalid image comprises an image with an invalid label, or one or more images with an image similarity greater than a threshold; and displaying, by the terminal, an album cover of a story album, where the story album includes M images in the N images, the M images are associated with a theme of the story album, and M&#x3c;N.

The present invention is directed to a method and apparatus for assigning channels in a cellular environment. A time period T is defined in which cellular operational measurement information such as traffic information and mobility information are collected. Channels that are available for allocation are collected and maintained in a matrix. The predicted number of channels are calculated based on the operational measurement information. Using the channels available for allocation and the predicted number of channels, channels are allocated for use. As the operational measurement information changes the time period T is adjusted to accommodate the changes in traffic or mobility within the cellular system.

A wireless communications systems for servicing mobile subscribers which dynamically optimizes the absolute number of channels reserved for use only as guard channels to minimize the blocking of handoff as well as new calls even under widely varying traffic and mobility conditions. A personal mobility system determines a terminal address corresponding to a called user based upon a personal identifier of the called user. The personal mobility system operates in conjunction with a plurality of heterogeneous networks to provide the terminal address corresponding to the called user, independent of the particular network within which the called user currently operates. The personal mobility system includes a personal mobility user application and a personal mobility server application. The personal mobility user application receives a request from a calling user, the request including the personal identifier of a called user. The personal mobility server application couples to the personal mobility user application and includes a plurality of user records. Each user record is respective to a user and is indexed by a respective personal identifier. Further, each user record includes a plurality of terminal records with each of the terminal records including a respective terminal address. The personal mobility server application accesses the user record for the called user based upon the personal identifier, selects a terminal record of the plurality of terminal records based upon the personal identifier, and returns a respective terminal address to the personal mobility user application. The user record may also include a network usage profile and a user profile for the user which are both employed in selecting the terminal identifier.

A self engineering system includes a data acquisition module, a self engineering engine, and a control module. The data acquisition module couples to the communication system and receives current operating data of the communication system. The self engineering engine receives the current operating data and determines new operating parameters of the communication system based upon the current operating data and current operating parameters. The control module implements the new operating parameters within the communication system. The self engineering system may include an expert system that receives the current operating data and, based upon the current operating data and the current operating parameters of the communication system, produces the new operating parameters. The expert system includes a fact library, a knowledge base and an inference engine. The fact library includes configuration data, historical operating data, the current operating parameters and proposed operating parameters. The knowledge base consists of rules intended to alter the fact library based upon contents of the fact library and the current operating data. Finally, the inference engine executes the rules and alters the fact library. The knowledge base and the inference engine then work together to produce the new operating parameters based upon contents of the fact library. The expert system may also include a system simulator that simulates operation of the communication system to verify proposed operating parameters prior to their implementation. The self engineering system also determines configuration errors, possible hardware faults and even improper hardware installation of the communication system. Thus, the self engineering system is useful in cross-checking installation as well as the functionality of the communication system as installed.

Cells in a radio telephone scheme are covered by beam-spots generated by multi-beam antenna system. Forward communication channels follow mobile units as they move between beam-spots. Additionally, each cell is divided into zones based on the mobile traffic patterns within the cell. Typically, there will be a high density zone covered by many, small area beam-spots, a medium density zone covered by two or three medium sized beam-spots, and a low density zone covered by one large beam-spot. As the mobile traffic patterns change throughout the day, multi-beam antenna dynamically reconfigures the zone and beam-spot layout for each cell, thereby keeping a nearly optimal zone and beam-spot configuration despite varying mobile traffic patterns.

The ongoing call is switched from a low to a higher power channel upon receiving a handoff request. The on-going call is using the higher power channel until a determination is made that the handoff is necessary or unnecessary. The quality of reception of the serving cell and target cell is compared to determine the necessity.

A method of assigning and sharing carriers in a cellular communications system having a plurality of cells forming a plurality of cell clusters of size N. Each cell has at least one base station capable of sending and receiving signals and each cell has a plurality of adjacent cells. A plurality of distinct carriers are allotted for use by the system and divided into N groups which are assigned among the N cells of each cell cluster so that each cell cluster has a substantially similar assignment of distinct carrier groups. Each group of distinct carriers is divided into a plurality of carrier subgroups wherein each subgroup of carriers of a cell substantially corresponds to an adjacent cell. The subgroups of carriers are respectively designated for borrowing by cells adjacent to a corresponding cell. When all of the carriers assigned to a cell are utilized, a carrier can be borrowed at limited transmitted power, from a corresponding subgroup of carriers of an adjacent cellular gateway. The borrowed carrier is used with limited transmitted power so that co-channel interference caused by the carrier borrowing is essentially the same as that without carrier borrowing. A method is also provided for assigning and sharing carriers and prioritizing the order of return of the carriers from a borrowing cell to a lending cell.

A method of assigning and sharing channels in a cellular communications system having a plurality of cells forming a plurality of cell clusters of size N.
