A roller module is adapted for use with an automatic document feeder, and is adapted for feeding of a document sheet therethrough. The roller module comprises a first roller, a second roller disposed adjacent to and parallel to the first roller and cooperating with the first roller to define a nip, a driven component co-rotatable with the first roller, and a driving component rotatable for abutting against and driving the driven component to rotate, thereby permitting feeding of the document sheet through the nip. During rotation of the driving component, the document sheet is brought into contact with the first and second rollers for a predetermined time period to perform skew correction before the driving component rotates the driven component.

A scanner includes a housing, a transparent platen disposed on the housing for positioning a document, and a calibration pattern formed on a side of the transparent platen. The calibration pattern includes an arc having a first point and a second point. The scanner further includes an optical engine installed inside the housing for scanning the document and the calibration pattern with movement in a first direction, and a control module installed inside the housing for controlling the optical engine to move to a scan start position according to the first point and the second point of the calibration pattern scanned by the optical engine and a radius of curvature of the arc.

A de-skew mechanism, in an image forming device, with a correcting member disposed in a rotatable manner to the rotary shaft and turning with driving roller by a spring between them. A torque spring suppresses the turning of the correcting member to correct the skew of the medium. When conveyed, the medium will butt against the correcting member to be stopped and corrected. The medium conveying force and the force that the spring brings to the driving roller are sufficient for turning the correcting member and passing therethrough. At one time, the force that the correcting member brings to the medium will reduce to zero. As such, the medium will not be damaged by the correcting member while being conveyed.

De-skew mechanism

A paper pressing device for a scanning apparatus is provided, which include a scanning module and a paper track corresponding to the scanning module, wherein the paper track is provided for a paper sheet passing through. The paper pressing device includes a film and a pressing block. The film is disposed on one side of the paper track opposite to the scanning module. The pressing block is disposed on one side of the film opposite to the scanning module and presses against the film for reducing the height of the paper track above the scanning module. When the paper sheet is passes over the scanning module, the paper pressing device presses the paper sheet for maintaining the paper sheet flat while being scanned.

A paper pickup mechanism mounted in a feeder includes several driving gears, connecting rods, a pickup roller and a twist restricting gear. By means of the twist restricting gear, the paper pickup mechanism provides an equal pickup force under different paper loads. Furthermore, the operational precision of the pickup roller is improved via relative motion with the twist restricting gear.

A phase rotary disk motor switching module employs anchor notches located on the peripheral rim of a rotary disk mounted on a motor to couple with a retaining element to enable the rotary disk to rotate in only one direction and define a plurality of phases for the rotary disk. Every phase has a driven gear coupled with the motor for transmitting output power. Motor power may be switched to a plurality of phases of output positions to maximize utilization of a single motor.
