A method of determining the maximum timing change (MTC) based on subcarrier spacing (SCS) configuration for UE measurement and reporting of a neighbor cell in 5 GS is proposed. During measurement procedure, UE first checks whether a neighbor cell has been detectable at least for the time period T, and becomes undetectable for a period ≤5 seconds, and then the cell becomes detectable again. UE then determines the MTC of the cell according to the SCS configuration of the cell. If the timing change of the cell is <MTC, UE reports the measurement report less than a first period (T) after the measurement event is triggered. Otherwise, if the timing change of the cell is >MTC, UE reports the event triggered measurement reporting less than a second period (T) after the measurement event is triggered.

Timing change and new radio mobility procedure

Various solutions for satellite access network (SAN) or non-terrestrial network (NTN) measurement within overlapping gaps with respect to user equipment and network apparatus in mobile communications are described. An apparatus may receive configurations of a first measurement gap and a second measurement gap. The apparatus may determine whether the first measurement gap and the second measurement gap are non-fully overlapping or fully overlapping. The apparatus may perform measurements within the first measurement gap and the second measurement gap according to a priority in an event that the first measurement gap and the second measurement gap are non-fully overlapping. The apparatus may perform measurements within an extended measurement period in an event that the first measurement gap and the second measurement gap are fully overlapping.

Method and apparatus for satellite access network measurement within overlapping gaps

Various solutions for scheduling restriction with higher subcarrier spacing (SCS) with respect to user equipment and network apparatus in mobile communications are described. An apparatus may determine whether a capability is enabled. The apparatus may apply a scheduling restriction on K symbols before synchronization signal block (SSB) symbols and K symbols after the SSB symbols in an event that the capability is enabled. The K symbols are greater than 1 symbol. The apparatus may transmit uplink symbols or receiving downlink symbols outside the symbols with the scheduling restriction.

Method and apparatus for scheduling restriction with higher subcarrier spacing in mobile communications

Methods are proposed to define UE behavior for performing synchronization signal block (SSB) based radio link monitoring (RLM) and channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) based RLM. In a first novel aspect, if CSI-RS based RLM-RS is not QCLed to any CORESET, then UE determines that CSI-RS RLM configuration is error and does not perform RLM accordingly. In a second novel aspect, SSB for RLM and RLM CSI-RS resources are configured with different numerologies. UE perform SSB based RLM and CSI-RS based RLM based on whether the SSB and CSI-RS resources are TDMed configured by the network. In a third novel aspect, when multiple SMTC configurations are configured to UE, UE determines an SMTC period and whether SMTC and RLM-RS are overlapped for the purpose of RLM evaluation period determination.

Method for NR radio link monitoring (RLM) and evaluation period determination

Aspects of the disclosure provide an electronic device including a transceiver and processing circuitry and a method for scheduling restriction. The transceiver can receive from a network configuration information to configure a measurement resource for a signal quality measurement. The signal quality measurement can determine a signal quality of a reference signal from the network to the electronic device. The processing circuitry can determine whether to apply the scheduling restriction based on the configuration information. In response to applying the scheduling restriction, the processing circuitry can determine when to apply the scheduling restriction based at least on a resource type of the measurement resource, the resource type being one of periodic, semi-persistent, and aperiodic. In an example, the signal quality of the reference signal includes a layer 1 (L1) reference signal received power (L1-RSRP) for the reference signal and the signal quality measurement includes an L1-RSRP measurement.

Electronic device and method for scheduling restriction

A method of performing beam failure recovery (BFR) procedure in primary cell and secondary cells with reduced UE complexity is proposed. A UE is configured to operate in one or multiple frequency bands under carrier aggregation or dual connectivity. The UE performs beam failure recovery (BFR) procedure on one serving cell for one frequency band across FR1 and FR2. The serving cell is an active serving cell including both primary cell (PCell) and secondary cells (SCells). Specifically, for SCell BFR procedure, a sharing factor K is introduced when multiple SCells are configured to perform BFR procedure. In one embodiment, the SCell BFR evaluation period equals to a predefined PCell BFR evaluation period times the sharing factor K.

Beam failure recovery with secondary cells

Methods and apparatus of performing spatial relation switching in new radio (NR) system is proposed. In one embodiment, a configured spatial relation of an uplink channel is Quasi-Co-Located (QCLed) to the source of a downlink reference signal (DL RS). In this QCLed relation, the active spatial relation switching shall differentiate known and unknown situation. In another embodiment, the configured spatial relation is QCLed to the root source of an uplink sounding reference signal (SRS). In this QCLed relation, the active spatial relation switching does not need to differentiate known and unknown situation. The proposed spatial relation switching shall apply for physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH), physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), and SRS transmission.

Methods and apparatus of spatial relation switching in new radio system

A method of activating multiple secondary cells can include receiving on a primary cell (PCell) at a user equipment (UE) a first medium access (MAC) control element (CE) for activating a first secondary cell (SCell) and a second SCell for the UE in a wireless communication system. The first and second SCells can operate in a same band. No active serving cell operates on the same band for the UE. In response to that the first SCell is a known SCell, the second SCell is an unknown SCell, and both the first and second SCells operate in the same band that is a frequency range 2 (FR2) band, the first and second SCells can be activated in parallel without performing cell search and reference signal received power (RSRP) measurement and reporting over the first and second SCells.

Secondary cell activation in new radio system

Apparatus and methods are provided for RRM measurement in the NR network. In one novel aspect, the RRM measurement is configured with one measurement gap for SS block and CSI-RS. In one embodiment, an extended MGL (eMGL) is configured such that the SS block and CSI-RS is measurement within one measurement gap. In another embodiment, the shorter MGL (sMGL) that is shorter than the standard MGL is configured. In another novel aspect, the CSI-RS is allocated adjacent to the SS blocks such that one measurement gap is configured for both the SS block and CSI-RS measurement. In another novel aspect, the CSI-RS measurement is conditionally configured. In yet another novel aspect, the UE decodes the time index of the SS block conditionally.

Radio resource management (RRM) measurement for new radio (NR) network

Techniques and examples of determination of receiver (RX) beam for radio link monitoring (RLM) based on available spatial quasi-co-location (QCL) information in New Radio (NR) mobile communications are described. An apparatus receives downlink (DL) signaling from a network. The apparatus determines whether to extend an evaluation period of RLM based on a quasi-co-location (QCL) association provided in at least the DL signaling. The apparatus then executes extension of the evaluation period of the RLM, or not, based on a result of the determining.

Spatial quasi-co-location for radio link monitoring in new radio mobile communications

A method is provided for TCI switching related to CSI-RS measurement and reporting, spatial relation switch for SRS, PUSCH, and PUCCH. The PDSCH and PDCCH are received according to the QCLed aperiodic CSI-RS. When the AP CSI-RS is configured as the reference in the TCI of PDSCH, UE may apply the updated TCI for the PDSCH, after the corresponding aperiodic report has been received at the network. Spatial relation switch is based on the valid measurement report. The spatial relation switch delay of aperiodic SRS can be performed when UE has sent the corresponding measurement report to the network.

Method for channel state indication-reference signal configuration update and spatial indication switch

A user equipment terminal (UE) in a wireless network calculates a measurement period for measuring the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) for a serving cell within a frequency range. The calculation is based on a channel measurement resource (CMR) and an interference measurement resource (IMR). The calculation includes evaluation of a sharing factor P, which is a maximum of Pof the CMR and Pof the IMR. The Pand the Pare evaluated, at least in part, based on periodicity of the CMR and the IMR in relation to other periodic measurements performed by the UE. The UE performs a channel measurement and an interference measurement using the CMR and the IMR, respectively, over the measurement period. The UE calculates the SINR based on the channel measurement and the interference measurement; and transmits an SINR measurement report indicating the calculated SINR to a base station.
