A turning tool ( ) is inserted into the forward end of an outer housing ( ) and its turning tips ( ) are moved into tip receiving openings ( ) at the base of the flange ( ). After the components have been rotated to provide a desired rotational position, the turning tool ( ) is removed. Optical fiber connector

Connector fitting (,) includes an inwardly opening inner socket (,) that snugly receives the buffer sleeve (,). The inner end portion of the inner socket (,) is crimped onto an inner end portion (,) of the buffering sleeve (,). Optical fiber connections

A first coupler part (12) is fastened to a wall (W) by a first pair of screw fasteners (32, 34). The screw fasteners (32, 34) have heads that bear against surface portions of the first coupler part (12) that immediately surround openings (28, 30) that receive the screw fasteners (32, 34). A second coupler part (14) is connectable to the surface (20) of first coupler part (20) that is directed away from the wall (W). When the second coupler part (14) is moved against the first coupler part (12), the heads of the screw fasteners (32, 34) enter into enlarged openings (68, 70) in the second coupler part (14). This allows the surface (48) of the second coupler part (14) to be moved against the surface (20) of the first coupler part (12). The second pair of fasteners (40, 42) are used to connect the second coupler part (14) to the first coupler part (12). Or, the second screw fasteners (40, 42) may extend through openings in the first coupler part and screw into openings in the wall (W). Either way, the second coupler part (14) can be quickly and easily detached from the first coupler part (12) by simply removing the two screws (40, 42). The second coupler part (14) can be thus removed for purpose of the pair or placement without disturbing the connection between an optical fiber cable (82) and the first coupler part (12).

The modular optical fiber connector includes a ferrule body with a ferrule attached to the front end and a buffer back post extending from the rear end. The ferrule body is permitted to move longitudinally relative to an insert which receives the ferrule and engages the front end of the ferrule body but is restrained against rotation. A coil spring is installed onto the buffer back post of the ferrule body, and engages a connector body that is utilized to internally hold the ferrule body, the insert and the coil spring. A connector nut is a hollow component that has a limiter on the interior wall. The ferrule body and insert in the connector body are inserted into one end of the connector nut and a fastening ring is inserted into the other end of the connector nut, and onto the connector body which is permitted to have longitudinal movement relative to the connector nut within a limited range.

An SC connector includes a back body having a locking member and a front body having a locking member and a buffer back post. The front body is disposed in the back body and the back body locking member and front body locking member engage to provide a one-piece ferrule buffer back post connector assembly.

One-piece SC fiber optic connector and method of terminating optical

A fiber optic connector includes an electrical contact for connection with an electrical wire formed within a fiber optic cable. The connector includes a connector body, at least a portion of which is electrically conducting, and an optical fiber retaining body coupled to the connector body. The electrical wire from the cable is coupled to the electrically conducting connector body of the connector. An adapter assembly for coupling the fiber optic connector to any suitable device also includes an electrical conductor for coupling to an electrical application. An electrical contact mounted to the adapter assembly provides an electrically conducting current path between the connector body and the conductor on the adapter assembly.

A nondisconnectable fiber optic connector assembly includes two fiber optic connectors and an interconnection assembly for joining the two connectors. Each connector has a connector nut and a connector body axially movable within the housing. A ferrule is provided within the connector body for retaining the fiber. The ferrules and connector bodies are axially movable with respect to the interconnection assembly and the connector nuts, and the ferrules are biased toward each other to hold the fibers in contact. The biasing also allows one ferrule to follow its mating ferrule in the event of outwardly directed axial movement of the mating ferrule. A stop member within each connector limits the outwardly directed axial movement of each ferrule, thereby preventing the optical connection from disconnecting.

One-piece SC fiber optic connector

A fiber optic connector with an epoxy preform is described that facilitates integration of an optical fiber with a connector body and a ferrule. In an illustrated embodiment, the epoxy preform is a cylindrical thermosetting epoxy element having a passage therethrough adapted to receive an optical fiber of a predetermined diameter. The passage through the preform is positively secured within a cavity within the connector body to precisely align the passage with an opening in an abutting ferrule.
