A modular bar and shop space for an aircraft galley is disclosed. In embodiments, the bar and shop space includes an aircraft monument installable either adjacent to a galley complex or as a standalone. The monument has upper and lower portions disposed behind upper and lower panels; the upper portion includes chiller and warmer compartments. The lower portion includes storage shelving and is deployable into the space in front of the monument. When the lower portion deploys, the vertical upper panel tracks downward into a horizontal workdeck above the storage shelving. The deployed workdeck may be used as a counterspace for a snack bar or social area for passengers, or as additional temporary workspace for cabin crew.

Flexible bar and shop space for aircraft cabin

A galley structure incorporating a handwashing station is disclosed. The galley structure may be a monument having a lower portion adjacent to the galley floor and an upper portion above the lower portion. A compartment set into the upper portion includes an upper surface, sidewalls, and sink pan with drain at the bottom. A faucet is set into the upper surface, oriented downward and including an aerator for aerating or misting the stream of water (from an aircraft water supply) dispensed by the faucet. The faucet may be activated by a switch directly above the compartment so that a crewmember may wash their hands under the faucet. A perforated plate set above the sink pan prevents the water from splashing out of the sink pan. The interior of the handwashing station may also provide an extension of the adjacent workdeck surface when the faucet and sink are not in use.

A solid state liquid-chilled bar unit for an aircraft galley includes a multilevel frame dimensioned to fit the galley and including stacked slots, each slot configured to fit a compartment. Warmer compartments include a liquid thermoelectric device (LTD) with 'cold' and 'hot' sides and a liquid heat exchanger (LHE) connected to the cold side. Scroll fans circulate air over a finned heat exchanger (on the LTD's hot side) to heat the compartment. Chiller compartments include LTDs with an LHE connected to the &#x201c;hot&#x201d; side, and may be bottle coolers or chiller drawers. Bottle coolers chill bottles or other containers via conductive contact with the LTD &#x201c;cold&#x201d; side, while chiller drawers chill air by circulating it over a finned heat exchanger on the &#x201c;cold&#x201d; side. Unchilled drawers store food, drink, or supplies at or near the ambient cabin temperature.

An illuminated handle mounted to a surface of a crew work area includes an illuminated portion is disposed on an interior surface. A structural portion is integrated into work area stowage compartments, disposed between two stowage compartments, such that the illuminated portion illuminates the stowage compartments and their contents when opened. The illuminated handle includes an illuminated coat hook protrusion extending from a top portion of the illuminated handle. The illuminated portion of the illuminated coat hook is disposed on an interior surface to further illuminate the stowage compartments and indicate the location of the illuminated coat hook, while the hook extension prevents the illuminated portion from directly illuminating a crew member's face and potentially blinding the crew member momentarily.

A solid-state cooling apparatus for a galley installed in an aircraft that includes at least one storage enclosure for containing chilled beverage and/or foods for storage and a solid-state air-to-air thermoelectric device having a hot side and a cold side mounted in the galley and having at least one fan for circulating chilled air in proximity to the storage enclosure. A waste heat capture device is provided and includes a hot air outlet for discharging waste heat from the hot side of the cooling thermoelectric devices into the aircraft exterior to the galley.
