A hot-swap circuit for providing soft start and overcurrent protection to an electronic circuit may include a controller and a timer. The controller may be configured to sense an electrical current associated with the hot-swap circuit, based on the electrical current sensed, perform current limiting of the electrical current to minimize inrush current to the electronic circuit, and disable the electrical current from flowing to the electronic circuit in response to the electrical current exceeding an overcurrent threshold for longer than a duration of a fault timer. The timer circuit may be configured to, for a period of time after enabling of the hot-swap circuit, cause the duration of the fault timer to be a first duration, and after the period of time, cause the duration of the fault timer to be a second duration significantly shorter than the first duration.

Systems and methods for extending fault timer to prevent overcurrent protection shutdown during powering on of information handling system

A circuit may include a source input for receiving an input voltage, a load output for generating an output voltage, a load switch coupled at its source to the source input and coupled at its drain to the load output which is configured to pass the input voltage to the load output when the load switch is activated, an enable input for receiving an enable voltage which is indicative of whether the load switch is to be activated or deactivated, and a leakage reduction circuit coupled between the enable input and a gate of the load switch, wherein the leakage reduction circuit is configured to electrically couple the gate of the load switch to the source of the load switch such that a source-to-gate voltage is maintained below a threshold voltage for activating the load switch when the enable voltage indicates that the load switch is to be deactivated.

Systems and methods for long soft start time load switch control

A method for managing an alternating current adaptor system is disclosed. A direct current voltage is received at a high impedance power delivery network from a primary side of an alternating current adaptor system. An isolated voltage is output from the high impedance power delivery network to components of a secondary side of the alternating current adaptor system. A transition in a power state identification of an information handling system associated with the alternating current adaptor system is detected. An output voltage level of the alternating current adaptor system is alternated in response to the transition in the power state identification of the information handling system.

A method for reducing current leakage in a battery in communication with an information handling system (IHS). The method includes providing a battery management unit (BMU) in the battery, the BMU in communication with an embedded controller (EC), the BMU in a standby mode while the battery is coupled to the IHS, and configuring the BMU to exit the standby mode if an external power supply is coupled to the IHS. Also disclosed is an IHS which includes an EC in communication with a BMU, a power switch in communication with the EC and the BMU, and a control switch configured to be switched on if an external power supply is coupled to the IHS or if the power switch is activated without the external power supply, wherein the BMU unit exits the standby mode if the control switch is switched on.

Methods and system for reducing battery leakage in an information handling system

A power adaptor detection system includes a power adaptor device configured to receive electrical power at a first voltage and to convert the electrical power to a second voltage. The second voltage has a lower value than the first voltage. An identification generating circuit is coupled to the power adaptor device. The identification generating circuit is configured to convert a portion of the electrical power to a substantially constant value electrical current. An identification detection circuit is configured to detect the second voltage. Detecting the second voltage causes the identification circuit to determine the value of a pulse of the electrical current, wherein the value of the electrical current is an identification attribute of the power adaptor device.

Power adaptor detection system

An information handling system includes a free fall sensing system having an amplifier and sampling circuit, a sampling data analyzer, a sampling clock duration controller, and a sampling clock generator. The amplifier and sampling circuit is configured to sample data signals from the free fall sensor based on an initial sampling signal and based on a variable sampling signal. The sampling data analyzer is configured to compare a magnitude of sampled data point to a predetermined magnitude, to output an alert signal when the magnitude of the sampled data point is below the predetermined magnitude. The sampling clock duration controller is configured to vary a duration and a frequency of a sampling signal control in response to the alert signal. The sampling clock generator is configured to send a variable sampling signal to the amplifier and sampling circuit in response to the variation of the duration and the frequency of the sampling signal control.

System and method for improved free fall detection

For improving efficiency of a power device having an exposed surface capable of radiating energy, a shielding layer is disposed in between the exposed surface and a conductive layer. The shielding layer causes at least a portion of the energy to be directed back into the power device, thereby substantially preventing the energy from inducing eddy currents in the conductive layer. The conductive layer is fabricated from a metal foil for compliance with electromagnetic energy leakage regulations.
