The present invention relates to a system and a method for preventing address conflicts when establishing breakpoints and applying one or more patches to code residing on a read only memory (ROM) device. The system and method generally comprises identifying one or more program addresses which require patching, whereby one or more patch addresses are defined; evaluating address bits of the patch addresses and determining index bit positions, whereby address bits occupying the index bit positions define one or more unique tag indices; and storing the index bit positions in a tag programming memory. The system and method may furthermore comprise storing the one or more tag indices and a respectively associated one or more tag addresses in a tag control memory, forming a program index for each program address; associating each program index to a tag index; comparing the tag address associated with the tag index for each matched program index to a predetermined portion of the program address via a comparison circuit; and directing the code to patch instruction data associated with the patch address in a patch memory if the predetermined portion of the program address matches the tag address. The system and method may further comprise a RAM/ROM enable circuit operable to direct the code to the patch memory if the program address originates from the patch memory.

Scheme for implementing breakpoints for on-chip ROM code patching

A data file having a plurality of frames is received, with each frame having a syncword located at a first predefined length from a known data value that is inconsistent with a data pattern of the syncword. A data string including a plurality of potential syncwords is identified. A first portion of the data string in excess of a second predefined length is skipped from syncword verification processing. The second predefined length includes the first predefined length plus the length of the syncword. A second remaining portion of the data string is processed for syncword verification.

Method and system for decoding a compressed data file

A data file ( ) having a plurality of frames is received, with each frame having a syncword. A data string ( ) including at least one potential syncword ( ) is identified in the data file ( ). A subsequent potential syncword address for the potential syncword ( ) is determined. A pointer address corresponding to a potential syncword following the data string ( ) in the data file ( ) is identified. The pointer address is compared to the subsequent potential syncword address. The data file ( ) is decoded based on the potential syncword following the data string in response to the pointer address corresponding to the subsequent potential syncword address.

Deterministic method and system for verifying synchronization words

A data file ( ) having a plurality of frames is received, with each frame having a syncword. A data string ( ) including a plurality of potential syncwords ( ) is identified in the data file ( ). One of the potential syncwords ( ) is randomly selected. A subsequent potential syncword address is determined based on the selected potential syncword ( ). Whether a subsequent potential syncword exists at the subsequent potential syncword address is determined. The data file ( ) is decoded based on the subsequent potential syncword in response to the subsequent potential syncword existing at the subsequent potential syncword address.

Probabilistic method and system for verifying synchronization words

A method for encoding a digital audio signal includes filtering a portion of the digital audio signal into a first number of frequency ranges to produce a respective first number of filtered signals and performing a discrete frequency analysis on each of the first number of filtered signals to produce a frequency representation of the digital audio signal. The method also includes generating a psychoacoustic representation of the portion of the digital audio signal based on the frequency representation of the digital audio signal and formatting the first number of filtered signals based on the psychoacoustic representation of the portion of the digital audio signal to produce a digitally-compressed encoded bit stream representing the portion of the digital audio signal.
