A vehicle and a control method of the vehicle are provided. The vehicle includes an engine management system to drive an engine to adjust a driving torque of the engine to accelerate the vehicle, a communicator to receive road gradient information, and a controller configured to control the engine management system such that running speed of the vehicle follows a target speed. The controller predicts an increase amount of speed of a next downhill section based on the road gradient information, and determines a start point of coasting control of a current section for maximizing a coasting distance based on the predicted speed increase amount.

Vehicle and control method thereof

A cruise control system, the vehicle including the same, and the method of controlling the cruise control system are provided to improve fuel efficiency by changing control target vehicle speeds by continuously predicting vehicle speeds and variations in required driving forces on roads with various slope variations. Additionally, driving performance is improved by using kinetic energies and preventing unnecessary acceleration and deceleration in comparison with conventional vehicles. Driver convenience and satisfaction is also improved by preventing an unintended operation stop of the cruise control system caused by frequent acceleration and deceleration on roads with substantial slope variations in advance and by preventing unintended acceleration/deceleration on roads with frequent slope variations.

A hydraulic pressure instruction-learning apparatus of a hybrid vehicle includes a power source including an engine and a motor. The engine clutch is disposed between the engine and the motor. The vehicle controller is configured to output a hydraulic pressure instruction to control engagement/disengagement of the engine clutch. The vehicle controller compares output performance of the engine clutch with predetermined dynamic target performance in a launch control, extracts a performance error function if a difference therebetween exceeds a predetermined allowable error range, and corrects the output performance of the engine clutch, such that the output performance falls within the predetermined allowable error range and is stored as a learned value.
