An inventive composition including an amount of sugar or sugar alcohol, an amount of alkalizing agent, and an amount of vehicle; whereby the inventive composition is formulated for transdermal administration to alleviate one or more disorder symptoms, for example neurogenic pain, or to treat one or more disorders, for example neurogenic inflammation.

An apparatus, composition, and method for affixment of dissimilar materials, that includes a ceramic longwise member having a distal portion and a proximal portion that has a pilot, also included is a steel receptacle including primary and secondary voids that are co-axial and in communication with one another. The longwise member pilot is received in the primary void with the remainder of the proximal portion having an open gap within the secondary void, wherein adhesive is disposed within the open gap and the distal portion projects beyond the receptacle. Operationally, resulting in the longwise member and the receptacle resisting a separating force apart from one another.

Dissimilar material affixment apparatus, composition, and method

A dental tool for use in photo-cured filling processes. The dental tool includes a tool tip formed from a material that allows the transmission of ultraviolet and visible light wavelengths through the tool tip without significant distortion or reflection. The material is also relatively high strength so not to shatter or break during use. The fill material will also not easily adhere to the tool. The material of a preferred embodiment is sapphire. The tool is able to continue to compact and shape the fill material while the composite polymer fill material is undergoing photo-curing. The light beam used for photo-curing is able to safely pass through the tool without the risk of damage to the surrounding tissue from reflection or distortion of the light beam.

A walking aid for use on a support surface is provided. The walking aid includes an elongated member having an upper end and a lower end and defining an interior cavity and a longitudinal axis, a stopper coupled to the lower end of the elongated member, and a support apparatus for supporting the walking aid. The support apparatus is translatable through the stopper and the interior cavity to a retracted position within the stopper and interior cavity, and to an extended position projecting from the stopper. The support apparatus is also biased radially outward relative to the longitudinal axis, and configured to extend away from the longitudinal axis and contact the support surface in the extended position.

An apparatus and method for an examination apparatus that includes a manually movable structure having a first movement from a free state to a compressed state and a second reversing movement from the compressed state to the free state. Also included is a plurality of fingers that are disposed adjacent to the structure. The fingers having a stowed state and an open state, the stowed state having a nested relationship between the fingers to reduce a silhouette profile size. In moving from the stowed state to the open state of the plurality of fingers requires a selected sequential movement of each the fingers to proceed from the nested relationship to the open state that is accommodated by an assemblage for moving the fingers sequentially utilizing the manually operated structure, wherein the fingers are moved from the stowed state to the open state and reversed manually.

In one embodiment of the present invention, a match-based employment system and method of operation are provided. The match-based employment system collects a plurality of employer seeker and employee seeker profiles, bi-directionally matches the employer seeker and said employee seeker profiles and displays at least a portion of the results to an employer seeker or an employee seeker. The match-based employment system can also order the bi-directional matching results based on a bi-directional match score and display the bi-directional matching results according to the ordering. The match-based employment system can also perform the matching such that approximately 70% of a matching score depends upon the quality of the match between employee seeker desires and employment seeker attributes and approximately 30% of the matching score depends upon the quality of the match between employment seeker desires and employee seeker attributes.

The present invention discloses an apparatus for organizing magnetic objects such as paper clips and needles accessible within a workstation area without being within the motor path of the work being performed, such as sewing machine needles being magnetically held to an accessible portion of a sewing machine without being within the normal path of hand movement. The apparatus is comprised of a pliable planar magnetic layer having an optional top adhesive layer and bottom adhesive layers whereby the magnetic apparatus can be selectively positioned or repositioned on any vertical, horizontal or curved magnetic and/or non-magnetic surface . A protective element or hook and loop material covers the bottom adhesive layer and a top layer may be provided having an indicia thereon, such as the company logo. A laser disc protector system for holding a laser video disc which may have indicia describing the contents and which consists of a transparent envelope, the envelope comprising sheets of flexible plastic material secured together on their edges, one edge a being open to permit a laser disc package comprising a disc inserted in an anti-static sleeve which is contained in a cardboard jacket, which may be the manufacturer's original cover for the disc, to be inserted into and withdrawn from the envelope, one sheet of which may be rigid for holding the envelope upstanding, there being a flap over the open end of the envelope to contain the laser disc package positioned safely within the envelope when is arranged in a store for browsing by a customer, or during transport, rental or storage. The invention also relates to an indexing system for laser disc packages where a plurality of like such packages are arranged in transparent envelopes of the kind described one behind another in a bin, packed loosely to allow one package to be flipped away from another package for selective browsing through the packages, and to a method for arranging such a system which consists of the steps of inserting each laser disc package into a transparent envelope of the character described and arranging the envelopes upright in a bin for browsing therethrough by a consumer.

The invention also relates to an indexing system for audio-visual material where a plurality of like such display packages are arranged one behind another in a bin, packed loosely to allow one package to be flipped away from another package for selective browsing through the packages, and to a method for arranging such a system which consists of the steps of removing the materials from their boxes, folding boxes to a flattened condition, inserting each box into such a display package and arranging the packages uprights in a bin for browsing therethrough by a consumer. The display package pocket also includes novel means for holding indicia placed therein from falling from the pocket during flipping and handling of the packages.

A novel hydrophobic polymeric matrix is provided which is suitable for use after implantation in vivo in a subject for the controlled release and delivery of biologically active substances such as drugs, antibiotics, steroids and the like. Alternatively, the matrix can be used outside the body for release of fragrances, pesticides and the like. The implantable matrix comprises a polymeric polyanhydride formulation whose internal anhydride linkages are hydrolytic in nature in varying degrees in accordance with the chemical composition of the backbone, pH and temperature of the environment. As the individual anhydride linkages become hydrolyzed, the matrix erodes predominantly by surface erosion into non-toxic biocompatible degradation products with concomitant release of the biologically active substance.

A plurality of horizontal shelves extend outwardly from a vertical supporting wall. Each of the shelves is formed on an arm structure having a pair of horizontally spaced arms connected by a cross member and a rack slidably resting on the arms across the width of the shelf lengthwise from arm to arm. The rack has a front section and a back section articulatingly interconnected, and slidable on the arms from a forward position wherein the front and back sections of the rack rest upon the arm and a rearward position wherein the front section only of the rack rests upon the arm and the back section of the rack extends perpendicularly therefrom and abuts against the wall.
