This invention relates to a vinyl aromatic, especially styrene, polymerization inhibitor system comprising an N-phenyl-1,4-benzoquinoneimine compound and optionally an aryl-substituted phenylenediamine.

A polymerization inhibitor composition for inhibiting the polymerization of aromatic vinyl monomers at elevated temperatures comprising: (a) a benzofuroxan derivative of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or alkoxy; R.sup.1 is a nitro group; and m and n are each independently 0, 1, or 2; and (b) a solvent selected from the group consisting of toluene, xylene, ethylbenzene, vinyltoluene, divinylbenzene, alpha-methylstyrene, and a C.sub.12 -C.sub.18 hydrocarbon, and methods for inhibiting the polymerization of aromatic vinyl monomers at elevated temperatures using this composition.

Composition for inhibiting the polymerization of aromatic vinyl monomers

This invention relates to a blend of different isomers of a compound represented by structure I ##STR1## wherein R is C.sub.9 -C.sub.20 alkyl; wherein Y is NO.sub.2 or SO.sub.3 R' or H; wherein R' is C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 alkyl; wherein X is NO.sub.2 or C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 alkyl; and wherein R' is H or C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 alkyl, m is 2 or 3, and n is 0, 1, 2, 3, with the provisos: (1) that Y may not be H and X may not be NO.sub.2 when n=0 and (2) that when R is C.sub.9 and n=0, X and Y may not both be NO.sub.2.

Polymerization inhibitor for vinyl aromatics

This invention relates to a vinyl aromatic. Compounds of Structure (I): ##STR1## wherein R is C.sub.9 -C.sub.20 alkyl, Y is NO.sub.2, SO.sub.3 R' or H, R' is C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 alkyl, X is NO.sub.2 or C1-C.sub.20 alkyl, and R' is H or C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 alkyl, m is 2 or 3 and n is 0,1,2,3, with the proviso that when R is C.sub.9 and n=O, X and Y may not both be NO.sub.2.

A flat, very thin fluid heat exchanger of up to about 1/8 inch in thickness is formed from a pair of etched blanks. The blanks are provided with at least a pair of projecting tabs for locating the blanks relative to each other. The tabs are secured prior to brazing of the blanks and are thereafter removed. Posts are provided for facilitating securance of the heat exchanger to objects with which it is to be associated. A thin fluid flow passageway is provided between the blanks, and the heat exchanger provides fluid flow inlet and outlet openings communicating with the fluid flow passageway.

Thin flat heat exchanger and method of making same

A method of chemical machining utilizing selective plating techniques to form a metal component from sheet metal sheets, in which each sheet is degreased, rinsed in deionized water, and thoroughly dried, then is coated with a positive photoresist. The photoresist is cured, and then the image of the component to be formed is photographically applied to either side of the sheet utilizing photomasks, the photographically exposed photoresist is removed from the sheet, and the sheet etched to provide the basic component configuration. Selective plating is effected by further photographically exposing the photoresist of the sheet that overlies the portions of the sheet to be plated, by utilizing photomasks delineating the areas to be plated, after which the freshly exposed photoresist is removed, the sheet baked to better condition the resist for plating, and then suitably electroplating the areas of the sheet metal thus exposed. After plating, the completed component is soaked in acetone to remove the resist.
