Alkali metal silicates and zeolites can be agglomerated to form granules that are of particular value in detergents. These agglomerates are formed when hydrated alkali metal silicate particles are tumbled with hydrated zeolites of small particle size while moisture and then heat are introduced to achieve granulation. The product is a free-flowing granular material has numerous desirable characteristics for detergents.

Catalyst and process for residua demetalation and desulfurization

Activated or partially activated zeolites can be included in analgesic balms or ointments as improved replacements for rubefacients. Upon hydration, the zeolite becomes warm, thereby helping to relieve pains associated with various musculoskeletal problems. An especially useful composition involves an ointment or balm that contains a combination of functional ingredients. A conventional analgesic such as a salicylate that can be absorbed through the skin supplies one form of relief that generally requires a period of time to become effective. When combined with the zeolite, which begins to hydrate at once, immediate relief is provided through the generated warmth.

Topical liquid or ointment

A combination of an acidic functional polymer and zeolite and/or amorphous alumino silicate provides a gel suitable as a cosmetic vehicle plus supplying functionality as well. The components combine easily to provide a creamy gel that is compounded with other ingredients to provide the complete cosmetic composition. The zeolite or amorphous alumino silicate is present in a sufficient quantity to provide functionality as well as the desired rheology. The combination can be used to compound astringent creams or lotions, make-up bases, facial masks, deodorant compositions, antiperspirants, anti-acne compositions, wrinkle smoothers or erasers, pore minimizers, and body lotions. An especially useful zeolite or amorphous alumino silicate is a material that contains aluminum as the cation.

Cosmetic vehicle

Crystalline alumino-silicates (zeolites) are multifunctional in dentifrice compositions thereby reducing the number of components required in such formulations. The pH-adjusted zeolites can keep the pH of the dentifrice in the range where caries formation is impossible. The pH-adjusted synthetic or natural zeolites can be prepared or obtained in a particle size range that provides both abrasive cleansing and polishing or lustering of the teeth. The fine particle size and water absorbing capabilities of the zeolite can also provide thickening. Such multifunctional performance allows considerable simplification in the formulation of dentrifice compositions.

Toothpaste containing pH-adjusted zeolite

A method of controlling the molybdenum content of uranium yellowcake which is precipitated from an eluate of ammonium carbonate. The pH of the eluate is maintained at a relatively high value, i.e., never less than 9.3, while the eluate is heated to strip off ammonia, carbon dioxide, and water. Ammonia is added to the eluate during heating to keep the pH high and the molybdenum in solution in the eluate. Also, the precipitated uranium yellowcake may be treated by adding aqueous ammonia and heating to form an insoluble uranium salt and a soluble molybdenum salt which can be filtered to produce a uranium yellowcake having a reduced molybdenum content.

This invention is concerned with removing metal and sulfur contaminants from residual oil fractions by catalytic contact with an improved catalyst comprising the oxides or sulfides of a Group VIB metal and an iron group metal supported on an alumina that contains dispersed Delta and/or Theta phase alumina, the catalyst having at least 45% of its pore volume in pores 30 to 150A diameter, at least 10% of its pore volume in pores less than 30A diameter, and at least 15% of its pore volume in pores greater than 300A diameter. The process can be used to prepare feedstock for catalytic cracking.

Process for demetalation and desulfurization of petroleum oils

Silane-Zeolite composites are incorporated into phosphate free detergents as builders. The use of such composites allows compositional improvements and results in certain process advantages when compared to detergents utilizing plain zeolites as phosphate replacements. Hydrated zeolites which have been treated with functionally hydrophilic silanes do not agglomerate during incorporation into detergents. In addition, use of the silane-zeolite composite allows use of increased amounts of both the zeolite and silicate solids as builders in detergents.

A specially prepared zeolite-containing silica-alumina hydrogel gives a catalyst that is attrition resistant, more active catalytically, more selective and more stable. The hydrogel is prepared by steps including nozzle mixing of reactants to form a hydrogel, ion exchanging with ammonium, aluminum and rare earth ions, washing, drying and impregnating with rare earths.

A method is disclosed for the conversion of synthesis gas to a liquid hydrocarbon product having a boiling point range maximum of less than 400.degree. F. at a 90% overhead and being a predominantly olefinic product. The novel method involves contacting synthesis gas with a single particle catalyst containing cobalt, a crystalline acidic aluminosilicate zeolite having a silica-to-alumina ratio of at least 12, a pore size greater than about 5 Angstrom units, and a constraint index of about 1 to 12, and a siliceous matrix. The catalyst does not contain promoters and the alumina content of the matrix is severely restricted.

Conversion of synthesis gas with cobalt-containing fluid catalyst

A method is disclosed for the conversion of synthesis gas to a liquid hydrocarbon product having a boiling range of less than 400.degree. F. at a 90% overhead and containing approximately 5-25% of an aromatic product. The novel method involves contacting synthesis gas with a single particle catalyst containing iron, a crystalline acidic aluminosilicate zeolite having a silica-to-alumina ratio of at least 12, a pore size greater than about 5 Angstrom units, and a constraint index of about 1 to 12, and a siliceous matrix. The catalyst does not contain promoters and the alumina content of the matrix is limited.

Conversion of synthesis gas with iron-containing fluid catalyst

Novel catalyst support, catalyst and process for hydrodemetalizing sulfur and metal-contaminated hydrocarbon oils such as residual petroleum fractions or whole crudes. The process may be used to prepare feedstocks suitable for fluid catalytic cracking. The novel catalyst support is alumina modified with rare earth oxide.
