A seal between two static turbine parts is provided with a carrier piece comprising a flat metal piece with a middle piece and end pieces each of which is arranged in a groove in the static turbine parts. A second part comprising a flat metal piece and having a middle piece and end pieces which are also arranged in grooves is attached to the middle piece of the carrier. The end pieces are constructed resiliently, ensuring a sealing contact between the end pieces and the inside surfaces of the grooves even in the case of a relative shift of the grooves. The seal does not depend on the level of a pressure differential.

Seal between static turbine parts

The holes in a liner for an augmentor for a gas turbine engine are reoriented so that cooling air admitted into the gas path is directed tangentially to the liner wall instead of radially and the opening defines a scoop that enhances turbulence adjacent the outer diameter of the liner to improve its heat transfer characteristics, and the method of reorienting said holes.

Augmentor liner construction

The cooling air for the nozzle of an augmentor of a gas turbine engine is maintained uniformly around the circumference to assure the prevention of hot streaks that would be occasioned by the liner 'sagging'. A separate end piece having judiciously located gaps for directing air over the nozzles, flaps and seals attached to the end of the augmentor duct maintains concentricity during augmentor operation, and affords support to the liner of the duct.

Components of a rotor assembly which is capable of long term reliable operation in an axial flow gas turbine engine environment are disclosed. Various construction details enabling good low cycle fatigue life by reducing stress concentrations in the rotor disk are disclosed. Rotor disk and blade features are combined to provide a seal land on the rotor assembly without the need of disk sideplates.

Turbine rotor assembly

A fishing rod or pole holder having a hollow pipe member for holding the fishing pole. The holder having a threaded bore at one end thereof for threadably mounting the holder to a spike. The spike having a pointed end for driving into ice or ground and a head end. A threaded collar is secured to the spike adjacent the head end but spaced therefrom so that when the head is hit with a hammer or a rock, for example, the threads on the collar are not damaged. The threaded collar further being adapted to be received by the threaded bore in the holder when the spike is positioned either with the pointed end through the pipe, as would be the case when the holder is being carried and is not being used to hold a fishing pole, and also with the pointed end outside the pipe, as would be the case when the spike is to be used to hold a fishing pole.

An augmentor system for a gas turbine engine is drained of residual fuel after augmentor shutdown by means of a drain conduit connected to the augmentor fuel spray apparatus through a valve which opens upon augmentor shutdown. The outlet to the drain conduit is disposed within the flameholder. A pressure differential causes the residual fuel to flow from the spray apparatus into the drain conduit and thereupon into the flameholder, whereupon it is burned.
