A thermal inkjet ink includes a water-based vehicle; a colorant; and a modified siloxane surfactant including a plurality of components. Each component has a chemical formula I: SiOCH. For each component: y ranges from 2 to 4; x and z each range from 0 to 14; x+z=from 0 to 14; j, m, and n are the number of carbon atoms, respectively, in R, R, and R; o, p, and q are the number of hydrogen atoms, respectively, in R, R, and R. Ris selected from H, an alkyl, and an aryl. Each of R2 and R3 is selected from H, an alkyl, an alkyl substituted with an allylic or an epoxy group, an aryl, and an aryl substituted with an allylic or an epoxy group. For some components: x+z=from 7 to 14.

Thermal inkjet ink and colorless pre-treatment fluid

An example of an inkjet pre-treatment fluid for dye sublimation printing consists of a humectant; a cationic polymer; a surfactant; a co-solvent present in an amount up to about 50 wt % based on a total weight of the inkjet pre-treatment fluid; and a balance of water. In an example of a printing method, the inkjet pre-treatment fluid is inkjet printed onto a textile substrate to form a pre-treated area on the textile substrate.

Inkjet pre-treatment fluid for dye sublimation printing

A printing method includes selecting a dye sublimation ink, having: a disperse dye colorant dispersion; a primary solvent selected from the group consisting of glycerol, ethoxylated glycerol, 2-methyl-1,3-propanediol, dipropylene glycol, and combinations thereof; a surfactant selected from the group consisting of nonionic surfactants, anionic surfactants, and combinations thereof; an additive selected from the group consisting of a buffer, a biocide, a chelating agent, and combinations thereof; and a balance of water. An operating energy that includes a margin over a turn-on energy (TOE) for a thermal inkjet printhead is applied to a heating resistor of the printhead, wherein the margin ranges from about 10% to about 25% over the TOE. The dye sublimation ink is printed from the thermal inkjet printhead i) directly onto a textile substrate, or ii) onto a transfer medium to form an image thereon; and the image is transferred onto the textile substrate.

Dye sublimation ink thermal inkjet printing method

A thermal inkjet dye sublimation ink consists of a disperse dye colorant dispersion, primary and secondary solvents, a chelating agent, oleth-3-phosphate, additive(s), and water. The colorant dispersion is present in an amount ranging from about 1 wt % actives to about 7 wt % actives. The amount of the primary solvent (glycerol, ethoxylated glycerol, 2-methyl-1,3-propanediol, dipropylene glycol, or combinations thereof) ranges from about 10 wt % to about 22 wt %, and the amount of the secondary solvent ranges from 0 wt % to about 7 wt %. The chelating agent amount ranges from 0 wt % actives to less than 0.1 wt % actives, and the oleth-3-phosphate amount ranges from about 0.1 wt % to about 0.75 wt. The additive is selected from the group consisting of a buffer, a biocide, another surfactant, and combinations thereof.

Thermal inkjet dye sublimation inks

A thermal inkjet dye sublimation ink consists of a disperse dye colorant dispersion, a co-solvent system, an additive, and a balance of water. The colorant dispersion is present in an amount ranging from about 1 wt % actives to about 7 wt % actives. The co-solvent system is present in a total amount ranging from about 12 wt % to about 25 wt %. The co-solvent system consists of glycerol present in an amount ranging from about 9 wt % to about 16 wt %, ethoxylated glycerol present in an amount ranging from 0 wt % to about 5 wt %, and a water soluble or water miscible organic solvent present in an amount ranging from 0 wt % to about 7 wt %. The additive is selected from the group consisting of a surfactant, a chelating agent, a buffer, a biocide, and combinations thereof.

The present disclosure refers to an inkjet ink set comprising a black ink with a black pigment, a yellow ink with a yellow pigment, a cyan ink with a cyan pigment, a magenta ink with a magenta pigment and a white ink with a white pigment. At least one of the ink further contains a latex binder that is dispersed in the ink vehicle, and that includes a first heteropolymer including two or more aliphatic (meth)acrylate ester monomers or two or more aliphatic (meth)acrylamide monomers; and a second heteropolymer including a cycloaliphatic monomer and an aromatic monomer. The present disclosure refers also to a printing method using the ink set and to a system for printing the ink set.

Inkjet ink set

Herein is described an inkjet printing system comprising: an aqueous pre-treatment fluid comprising a cationic polymer and a pre-treatment vehicle; an aqueous inkjet ink composition comprising a latex polymer comprising a (meth)acrylate or (meth)acrylamide polymer or copolymer, a pigment and an ink vehicle; and an aqueous inkjet overcoat composition comprising a latex polymer comprising a (meth)acrylate or (meth)acrylamide polymer or copolymer, a wax and an overcoat vehicle.

Inkjet printing system

Herein is described an inkjet printer cartridge, comprising: a printhead having a flow path; a reservoir in fluid communication with the printhead flow path, the reservoir containing an inkjet ink composition; and a shipping fluid present in the printhead flow path, wherein the shipping fluid comprises: a fadable colorant; a carbohydrate; and a liquid vehicle. A method of performing a nozzle check for an inkjet printhead is also described.

Inkjet printer cartridge

Herein is described a method of inkijet printing, and compositions and inksets for use in the method, the method comprising: printing onto a non-porous substrate an inkjet fixing composition comprising a cationic polymer in an amount of less than 5 wt. %; an organic acid in an amount of 3 wt. % or less; and a liquid vehicle; and printing a latex-containing inkjet ink composition onto the non-porous substrate.

Method of inkjet printing and fixing composition

The present disclosure refers to an inkjet ink composition comprising an ink vehicle including water; a white metal oxide pigment dispersed in the ink vehicle; and a latex binder, dispersed in the ink vehicle. The latex binder includes a first heteropolymer including two or more aliphatic (meth)acrylate ester monomers or two or more aliphatic (meth)acrylamide monomers; and a second heteropolymer including a cycloaliphatic monomer and an aromatic monomer. The present disclosure refers also to a printing method using such inkjet ink composition.

Inkjet ink composition

Herein is described an ink set for use in inkjet printing, comprising: a first cyan ink comprising from 1 wt % to 2.5 wt % of a cyan pigment, from 5 wt % to 15 wt % of a latex binder, and an ink vehicle; a second cyan ink comprising from 0.25 wt % to 0.64 wt % of a cyan pigment, from 5 wt % to 15 wt % of a latex binder, and an ink vehicle; a first magenta ink comprising from 2 wt % to 4 wt % of a magenta pigment, from 5 wt % to 15 wt % of a latex binder, and an ink vehicle; and a second magenta ink comprising from 0.4 wt % to 0.97 wt % of a magenta pigment, from 5 wt % to 15 wt % of a latex binder, and an ink vehicle, and methods of printing using the inkset.

An ink composition is described herein. In one example, an ink includes at least one pigment, at least one dispersant, and at least one durable polymer in a water-based dispersion medium including at least one hydrophilic solvent. The dispersant is present at from about 0.05 wt % to about 15 wt % of the ink composition. Further, the ink composition includes at least one dispersion additive.

Ink composition

The present disclosure is directed to ink sets and related methods for ink-jet printing on media, such as low-porous or non-porous print media. The inks and ink sets provide good chroma as well as good durability.

Color and durability of ink-jet ink sets with added latex

The present disclosure provides a method of inkjet printing on non-porous media including inkjet printing a fixer fluid on the non-porous media and inkjet printing an ink onto the non-porous media, where the printing of the ink is within 125 milliseconds of the printing of the fixer fluid. Thus, the ink is printed to contact the fixer fluid within 125 milliseconds of each being printed. In one example, the fixer fluid can include a liquid vehicle including water and co-solvent having a boiling point from 160&#xb0; C. to 250&#xb0; C., a surfactant, and a cationic polymer; and the ink can comprise an anionic pigment dispersion.

Methods and systems for printing on non-porous media

Disclosed herein are inks including an aqueous vehicle; at least one encapsulant-dispersed pigment; and at least one block copolymer binder dispersed throughout the aqueous vehicle and having Structure I and comprising a hydrophobic block (A) and a hydrophilic block (B).
