Computer systems and methods are provided for time domain reconstructed seismic wavefield imaging. The original source signal or extended source can be forward propagated based on a model of a subsurface region, in order to generate a residual by comparison to field data. The residual can be back-propagated to generate a reconstructed source signal, which can be forward propagated to generate a reconstructed source wavefield. Seismic images can be generated by cross correlating the forward-propagated reconstructed source wavefield and the back-propagated receiver wavefield. The model can include seismic parameters such as velocity, density, anisotropy and attenuation characterizing the subsurface region, and can be iteratively refined to improve image quality, based on the reconstructed source wavefield in comparison to the field data.

System and method for reconstructed wavefield imaging

Computer systems and methods are provided for seismic wavefield processing, including time domain reconstructed full wavefield inversion (TDRFWI) of seismic survey data. Suitable methods include forward propagating a source signal based on a model of a subsurface region, generating a residual based on the forward-propagated wavefield in comparison to field data, back propagating the residual to generate a reconstructed source perturbation, and adding the reconstructed source perturbation to the source signal to generate a reconstructed source wavefield. The reconstructed source perturbation can be forward propagated to generate a reconstructed wavefield perturbation, and added to the reconstructed wavefield perturbation to reconstruct the wavefield. The propagations can be performed in the time domain, and the model can be updated based on the reconstructed wavefield and reconstructed source perturbation to generate high fidelity subsurface images.

System and method for reconstructed wavefield inversion

A positron emission tomography scanner having a plurality of detector rings positioned side-by-side. Each detector plane contains a plurality of photomultiplier tubes with at least two columns of scintillation crystals positioned on each photomultiplier tube defining a module in ring. Each crystal is uniform and has a length in the axial direction less than the size of the photomultiplier tube. The fundamental crystal identification module is limited to two photomultiplier tubes. Each alternate module in the ring is offset by one-half or less of the center-to-center intra-module crystal spacing in the axial direction.
