An apparatus for releasably attaching a fiber optic module to equipment is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a latch configured to releasably attach the fiber optic module to equipment. The apparatus further comprises a pushrod configured to deactivate the latch from a back end of the fiber optic module, wherein the fiber optic module is released from the equipment. In one embodiment, the fiber optic module is a high-density fiber optic module. The pushrod may be further configured to maintain a position of the latch. The pushrod may also be further configured to be positioned in a groove disposed in a side of a main body of the fiber optic module, wherein the pushrod and the groove are configured to prevent the pushrod from binding while moving within the groove.

Fiber optic cables seal and/or strain relief members and related assemblies and methods are disclosed. In one embodiment, an elongated member is provided that facilitates providing sealing and/or strain relief of a portion of multiple fiber optic cables not enclosed within a common outer cable jacket or sheath when disposed through the opening of the fiber optic terminal. In one embodiment, the elongated member includes a sealing portion configured to facilitate sealing of a fiber optic terminal opening when the multiple fiber optic cables are received in the sealing portion and the elongated member is disposed through the opening of the fiber optic terminal. In another embodiment, the elongated member includes a strain relief portion on a second end configured to receive and provide strain relief to the multiple fiber optic cables disposed inside the fiber optic terminal, when the elongated member is disposed through the fiber optic terminal opening.

According to at least one exemplary embodiment a ferrule, comprises: (i) a bore extending from a rear of the ferrule to a front of the ferrule, wherein the bore is sized to receive an optical fiber and a buffer layer at one end face of the ferrule; and (ii) an end stop sized to engage the buffer layer and to contain the optical fiber within said ferrule. In some embodiments the ferrule includes an optical fiber situated within the bore.

A cable attachment assembly for sealing and retaining three flat cables entering a telecommunications closure provides a grommet having three radially arrayed passageways and a grommet washer having a flat portion and a raised portion for simultaneously maintaining compressive force to the grommet and mitigating creep of the grommet during thermal cycling.

A strain relief device for securing three radially arrayed flat cables coming into a closure includes a body having three armatures extending radially. Each armature includes at least two cantilevered segments extending from the at least one armature in opposing directions. At least one cable may be received in a receiving area partially defined by the armature and the cantilevered segment. Compressive force acting on the strain relief device secures the cables in the receiving area relative to the strain relief device.

A bladeless stripping device includes a body having a cutting zone across the body forming a living hinge to fold the body along a fold area. An aperture may be located through the body and may be associated with the fold area. The aperture may change dimension as the body is folded and unfolded. The fiber aperture may receive for example an optical fiber in an unfolded state and may close upon for example the optical fiber in a folded state such that, when the bladeless stripping device is translated along for example the optical fiber at least one coating of for example the optical fiber is caused to be stripped away, revealing for example a bare glass fiber suitable, for example, for connectorizing or splicing.

Disclosed are fiber optic connectors including a holder for attaching a fiber optic cable to a fiber optic connector along with cable assemblies and methods for making the same. In one embodiment, the holder includes a first and a second cantilevered arm that are squeezed together when a sleeve is placed over the holder. Further, one or more of the cantilevered arm may include a plurality of teeth for 'biting' into the cable jacket and providing a suitable fiber optic cable retention force. The fiber optic connectors, cable assemblies and methods disclosed herein are advantageous since they allow the craft to quickly, reliably, and easily attach a robust fiber optic cable to a connector, thereby providing a rugged solution for the craft.

Fiber optic connectors, cable assemblies and methods for making the same

An environmentally sealed closure, such as a terminal for terminated ends of fiber optic cables, includes a housing having a wall defining an interior volume. A floating sealing assembly is provided including a first plate, a seal member and a second plate arranged in a stack within the interior volume. The seal member has an outer sealing edge for contacting the wall of the housing, which may be straight and/or chamfered. Fiber optic cables extend through the sealing assembly so that the terminated ends are within the splice area. The floating sealing assembly is compressed so as to place the outer sealing edge of the seal member in sealing contact with the wall of the housing. When a pressure differential exists between the splice area and the outside of the housing only one of the first or second plates moves along the longitudinal axis to further compress the seal member and increase sealing between the outer sealing edge and the housing wall.
