A system and method for protecting biological or other material from contamination through the steps of filling, freeze-drying, packaging, storing and use are disclosed. A system can include a flexible container, a membrane configured to transmit air or solvent vapor out of the flexible container, and a membrane frame supporting the membrane and engaged with at least one column member. The at least one column member can be configured to maintain the membrane and the membrane frame a spaced distance from one or more contents received within the flexible container. Upon application of a downward force, the at least one column member can assume a collapsed configuration. A method can include inserting a biological material, for example, into a flexible container, freeze-drying the biological material, moving the freeze-dried biological material to a portion of the flexible container that includes at least one port, and sealing the biological material within the portion.

System and method for freeze-drying and packaging

This patent document discloses perfusion catheters and related methods for treating complications related to CTO interventions or dilating a vessel occlusion while maintaining a passage through the treated vessel segment. A perfusion catheter can include a balloon formed of an inflatable tube and an elongate shaft having a lumen for providing inflation fluid to, or withdrawing inflation fluid from, the balloon. The inflatable tube can be coiled in a helical manner around a central axis into a series of windings. Adjacent windings can be stacked against and bonded to each other, and an inner surface of the series of windings, when inflated, can define the passage. The elongate shaft can be eccentrically attached to a proximal portion of the balloon and the shaft's lumen can be in fluid communication with the interior of the balloon, specifically the inflatable tube. The inflatable tube can include two different polymer tubes, one slightly smaller than the other.

Perfusion catheters and related methods

Catheters and methods for supporting a guidewire or delivering a radiopaque, diagnostic or therapeutic agent through a vessel stenosis or other tortuous anatomy are disclosed. A catheter can comprise an elongate shaft body and a tip member disposed at a distal end of the shaft body. The shaft body can extend from a proximal end to the distal end and can define an inner lumen. The shaft body can include a liner, a braid member surrounding the liner, a multi-layer coil surrounding the braid member, and a polymer cover surrounding the multi-layer coil. The multi-layer coil can include first and second coil layers wound in opposing directions. An outer surface portion of the polymer cover can include one or more helical threads. In an example, the one or more helical threads are positioned around a distal end portion of the shaft body. The tip member can be made from a metal or a polymer and can also include one or more helical threads around its outer surface.

Catheter

Assemblies and methods for capturing a guidewire advanced through a blood vessel in a retrograde direction are disclosed. An assembly can include a constraining catheter and a capture catheter. The constraining catheter can include a first longitudinal member and a tubular member; the tubular member can be eccentrically coupled with a distal end portion of the first longitudinal member. The capture catheter can include a second longitudinal member and a funnel member; the funnel member can be eccentrically coupled with a distal end portion of the second longitudinal member. The funnel member can be moved between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration through relative movement between the first and second longitudinal members. In the collapsed configuration, at least a portion of the funnel member is disposed within a lumen of the tubular member. In the expanded configuration, the portion of the funnel member projects from an end of the tubular member.

Guidewire capture

Assemblies and methods for scoring a stenotic region within a vessel of a patient are disclosed. An assembly can comprise a scoring member and a deployment member. The scoring member can include an elongate push structure and a tubular, self-expanding scaffold. The elongate push structure can be positioned proximal of the self-expanding scaffold and, at its distal end portion, eccentrically coupled with a proximal end portion of the self-expanding scaffold. The deployment member can be removably positioned within a central lumen of the self-expanding scaffold and detachably engageable with a portion of the self-expanding scaffold. The self-expanding scaffold can be movable between a downsized configuration, when receiving axial tension from the deployment member, and an expanded configuration, in the absence of axial tension. The assembly can further comprise means for detachably engaging the deployment member and the self-expanding scaffold and means for detachably engaging the deployment member and the elongate push structure.

Stenotic region scoring assembly and method

Guidewires and related methods for percutaneous crossing of an occlusion in a blood vessel are disclosed. A guidewire can include a core member and a jacket member. The core member can extend from a proximal end portion to a distal end portion, with the distal end portion including a first segment, a more distal second segment and a more proximal third segment. The first segment can be configured to encourage prolapse by way of a short taper or a diameter-reduced portion. The jacket member can surround at least the distal end portion of the core member. A method can include advancing a distal end portion of the guidewire through the natural lumen of a blood vessel to a location near an occlusion. A longitudinal pushing force can be applied to a proximal end portion of the guidewire, thereby causing a first segment of the distal end portion to prolapse.

Guidewires and methods for percutaneous occlusion crossing

A coaxial guide catheter to be passed through guide catheter having a first lumen, for use with interventional cardiology devices that are insertable into a branch artery that branches off from a main artery. The coaxial guide catheter is extended through the lumen of the guide catheter and beyond the distal end of the guide catheter and inserted into the branch artery. The device assists in resisting axial and shear forces exerted by an interventional cardiology device passed through the second lumen and beyond the flexible distal tip portion that would otherwise tend to dislodge the guide catheter from the branch artery.

Coaxial guide catheter for interventional cardiology procedures

Catheters and related methods for supporting a guidewire or delivering an agent through a vessel stenosis or other tortuous anatomy are disclosed. A catheter can comprise an elongate shaft body and a polymer tip member disposed at a distal end of the shaft body. The shaft body and the tip member can include a liner, one or both of a braid member or a coil member surrounding the liner, and a polymer cover surrounding the braid member or the coil member. The tip member can further include one or more filaments extending from a position overlapping, underlapping, or abutting a distal end of the braid member or the coil member on their proximal ends to a position distal to the braid member or the coil member on their distal ends. The one or more filaments can include a plurality of filaments arranged in a series of contacting helical windings about the liner, the braid member, or the coil member.

Catheter tip

Catheter assemblies, kits and methods allowing for the drainage or administration of fluid or small particles are disclosed. A catheter assembly can include a shaft with a lumen, an expandable retention member, an elongate actuation member and a locking mechanism. The expandable retention member can be positioned at a shaft distal end portion and can include one or more filaments forming a plurality of drainage or administration interstices of variable or uniform size. The elongate actuation member can include an actuation member distal end, directly or indirectly engaged with the expandable retention member, and an actuation member proximal end. Movement of the actuation member proximal end relative to a proximal end of the shaft can cause the expandable retention member to change from a lower-profile configuration to a higher-profile configuration. A moved position of the elongate actuation member can be secured by rotating, sliding or otherwise manipulating the locking mechanism.
