An underground electrical conduit hexagonal in cross-section and having internal partition walls subdividing the conduit into a plurality of longitudinal ducts. The internal partition walls are symmetrically disposed about a central longitudinal axis of the conduit and serve as bracing structure to strengthen and support the outer walls of the conduit.

In a system including a carburetor for regulating the air/fuel ratio fed to an internal combustion engine, a sensor is positioned in the exhaust pipe to provide a control signal indicating the amount of some exhaust gas constituent, such as oxygen. A control circuit is provided to regulate the position of a carburetor component, to change the air/fuel ratio as a function of the control signal derived from the exhaust gas sensor. This carburetor component is continually displaced, either toward a richer or leaner mixture condition, thus in effect integrating the signal from the exhaust gas sensor which ultimately regulates the air/fuel ratio. Operation of the control circuit is modified as a function of the engine speed and the engine temperature.

Charge forming apparatus for forming a fuel air mixture of the type in which a stream of inducted air impinges upon a stream of fuel in a fuel dispersion gap, is provided with an air flow rate sensor which reduces the area of the fuel dispersion gap as the flow rate of inducted air increases for providing leaner fuel air ratios at higher air flow rates than would be available if the initial area of dispersion gap were retained, in short, the apparatus provides a flatter fuel-air ratio over a greater operating range than would be provided by a dispersion gap of fixed area.

A device for developing a signal indicative of the torque load on an internal combustion engine and particularly suited to provide said signal for an automatic transmission to be driven by said engine comprising actuator means having a piston movable in response to a pressure. The torque sensing device is adapted to be connected to one or more cylinders of the internal combustion engine so that said device is actuated by the average cylinder pressure as an indication of engine torque load.
