For example, some embodiments described herein may provide for use of a blind-learning-type algorithm for channel bias distribution estimation for UE-based positioning. A capability for opportunistic forwarding of information using a wireless terminal is presented. An energy limited node includes a wake-up circuit configured to detect a wake-up signal from a wireless terminal where the wake-up signal includes a modulated waveform signal, and a communication module configured to switch, based on a control signal generated by the wake-up circuit, from a sleep mode in which the communication module is not operable to communicate with the wireless terminal to an active mode in which the communication module is operable to communicate with the wireless terminal. The present invention provides methods implemented in a base station having a plurality of antennas and one or more user terminals. One embodiment of the method includes receiving feedback from at least one user in response to transmitting a first frame to said at least one user. The method also includes transmitting at least one second frame to the user(s). The second frame(s) are pre-coded using at least one second codeword selected from at least one second codebook. Various embodiments provide a method and apparatus for determining tag location by using one or more estimated channel responses (CR) that characterize the wireless channel between the tag and one or more respective anchors. A capability for secure communication of data from a source device to a destination device is presented. The source device has a device identifier associated therewith. The source device stores an encrypted version of the device identifier that is encrypted based on a master key of the destination device. The source device stores an encryption key. The source device communicates data to the destination device in a secure manner by encrypting the data using the encryption key and propagating the encrypted version of the device identifier and the encrypted data to the destination device. The destination device recovers the data sent by the source device by decrypting the encrypted version of the device identifier based on the master key to determine the device identifier, determining a decryption key based on the device identifier, and decrypting the encrypted data based on the decryption key to recover the data sent by the source device.

In one embodiment, a first network device detects load information transmitted by a second network device and selects one of a plurality of modes of communication responsive to the detected load information. The modes of communication include at least a first mode of communication that is selected responsive to a relatively low load condition and a second mode of communication that is selected responsive to a relatively high load condition. In each of the modes particular information is to be transmitted from the first network device to the second network device including at least one identifier and associated data, and in different ones of the modes different portions of the particular information are transmitted from the first network device to the second network device using different channel arrangements. The present invention provides a method of forming clusters of cells in a wireless communication system. The method includes accessing information generated by measuring channel conditions for at least one mobile unit and a plurality of cells in the wireless communication system.
