A transducer includes an acoustic reflector, an acoustic coupler and one or more thermoacoustic frames. The acoustic coupler is disposed proximate to an output of the transducer and each of the thermoacoustic frames is disposed between the acoustic reflector and the acoustic coupler. The thermoacoustic frames, the acoustic reflector and the acoustic coupler form a resonator with each of the thermoacoustic frames configured to emit a broadband acoustic signal in response to receiving electrical energy. Additionally, the resonator is configured to emit a narrowband acoustic signal at the transducer output in response to receiving the broadband acoustic signal. A method includes adjusting a frequency of the narrowband acoustic signal by controlling a spacing between the thermoacoustic frames and one or more components of the resonator. Thermoacoustic device embodiments capable of resonant emission of intense ultrasound radiation generated by sheets of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNT) are also disclosed.

A sensor system and method of reducing plasma-induced communication inhibition for a main antenna includes using auxiliary antennas for detecting a density of plasma that affects operation of the main antenna, and re-orienting an electromagnetic field around the main antenna in response to the density detected to reduce effect of the plasma on the main antenna. The auxiliary antennas are also operable for data link communication and switchable such if the density of the plasma inhibits receipt or sending of signals by one of the auxiliary antennas, another one of the auxiliary antennas may be used for data link communication.

A method for detecting a concealed object in a target. The target may include a body and the concealed object. The method may include emitting radio frequency (RF) energy toward a direction of the target, receiving a scattered RF energy reflected from the target, generating a signal corresponding to the received scattered RF energy, comparing the signal with a plurality of stored RF scattering signatures, and detecting the concealed object when the signal matches one of a plurality of RF scattering signatures. Each of the RF scattering signatures may be associated with an object of interest.

A wearable, hybrid power generation system includes a rechargeable battery, a solid fuel cell power generator coupled to the rechargeable battery, and a cartridge with fuel for the solid fuel cell power generator. The cartridge is removeably coupled to the solid fuel cell power generator. The rechargeable battery, the solid fuel cell power generator, and the cartridge may be housed in a form factor conforming to a shape and size of a standard battery.

Systems and methods providing a wearable power generator

In certain embodiments, a cartridge includes a fuel chamber configured to store a fuel. The fuel chamber has a fuel outlet port configured to interface with a fuel inlet port of a fuel cell such that the fuel may be supplied to the fuel cell. The cartridge further comprises an oxidizing agent chamber configured to store an oxidizing agent. The oxidizing agent chamber has an oxidizing agent outlet port configured to interface with an oxidizing agent inlet port of the fuel cell such that the oxidizing agent may be provided to the fuel cell.

The information processing system generates records from the received information and binds the records in a multi-dimensional structure including a temporal dimension and another dimension including other records that share a common criterion. According to one embodiment, a visual detection system includes an image processing unit coupled to a display and one or more neuro-physiological sensors. The display generates an image that may be viewed by a user. The neuro-physiological sensors generate neuro-physiological signals representing neuro-physiological characteristics of the user while viewing the display. The image processing unit receives the neuro-physiological signals from the neuro-physiological sensors, determines a region of interest in the image according to the neuro-physiological signals, and provides an indication of the presence of the region of interest in the image.

According to one embodiment, an architecture tailoring system includes an architecture tailoring tool coupled to multiple architecture tools that each generates architectures according to its native architecture definition. Architecture tailoring tool receives an architecture from an architecture tool generated according to its native architecture definition and convert at least a portion of the architecture to conform a different architecture definition. The converted portion may then be exported to another architecture tool that is configured to manipulate the converted portion of the architecture according to its native architecture definition.

According to one embodiment, a computing system includes a computing node coupled to a number of sensors. The sensors are operable to generate records from received information and transmit these records to the computing node. The computing node is operable to bind the plurality of records in a plurality of classifications using a multiple level classifier such that each classification has a differing level of specificity.
