The ionization chamber consists of a plurality of ports to accept multiple identical devices or varying devices. Ports may be arranged at various positions on the ionization chamber and at various angles with respect to the sampling orifice leading into the vacuum chamber of the mass spectrometer. A plurality of sprayers may operate in a time modulated manner and thereby the simultaneous multiplexed analysis of a multitude of samples is facilitated.

The present invention provides a nanospray means and method for use in mass analysis instruments. Specifically, a nanospray assembly is composed in part of a base, union, retainer, and nanospray needle, and an entrance cap, first capillary section, and union. Adjustments to the position of the nanospray needle within this assembly are made independent of the remainder of the ion source. The nanospray assembly is integrated with the remainder of the source by joining the first capillary section (of the nanospray assembly) with a second capillary section which is fixed in the body of the source.

Method and apparatus for a nanoelectrosprayer for use in mass spectrometry

The present invention is for an improved ionization source chamber and ion beam delivery system which includes a vacuum chamber and flange arrangement, for mounting the means for transferring sample ions from the port to a mass analyzer and for mounting the ion production means, respectively. The flange containing the ion production means may be attached to the vacuum chamber via a hinge such that the flange can open as a door to provide easy access to the ion transfer electrodes in the vacuum chamber. Further, a variety of different ion production means may be mounted on the flange of the ionization source chamber of the present invention. As a result, any ion production means may be used with the present invention by substituting a flange which includes the desired ion production means.

Ionization source chamber and ion beam delivery system for mass spectrometry

Disclosed is an ion guide for transferring ions from and ion source through vacuum regions in a mass spectrometer. The ion guide includes a housing with insulating holders provided to secure electrode rods of multiple devices in longitudinal alignment for the transmission of ions from the ion source to a mass analyzer. The device comprise a plurality of electrode rods each having at least one connecting leg. The rods are connected to the insulating holders via these connecting legs using connecting plates mounted on either side of and adjacent to each insulating border such that the connecting plates are in electrical contact with connecting legs. The connecting plates also have positioning groves to hold the connecting legs in position such that electrical contact is maintained between groups of the electrode rods.
