A network protector includes: a first resettable switching apparatus configured to control an electrical connection between a distribution transformer and a first electrical feeder of a secondary electrical distribution network; a first communications interface; and a first controller configured to: determine a direction of power flow in the first electrical feeder; cause the first communications interface to provide a first indication of the direction of power flow in the first electrical feeder to a second network protector; and receive a second indication from the second network protector. The second indication includes an indication of the direction of power flow in a second electrical feeder of the secondary electrical distribution network.

Control of power resources based on battery state of health (SoH) and operation metrics includes estimating a SoH of a particular battery using an end-of-life SOH value and a kWh warranty value from battery catalog data and a battery kWh from battery throughput data; estimating battery capacity using the estimated SoH and a rated battery capacity from the battery catalog data; and estimating an allowable monthly throughput using a month warranty value, the kWh warranty value, the battery kWh, and number of operating months. Dynamic discharge cost is calculated using battery replacement cost data, the kWh warranty value, and the battery kWh. An optimal dispatch for operating the particular battery can be determined considering battery degradation using the estimated battery capacity, the estimated allowable monthly throughput, and the dynamic discharge cost. Dispatch commands can be output according to the determined optimal dispatch.

A switch device includes: a resettable switching apparatus, the resettable switching apparatus is configured control an electrical connection between a first electrical feeder of an electrical distribution network and a load; and a controller configured to: cause a test signal to be provided to the first electrical feeder; determine, after a test signal is provided to the first electrical feeder, whether the electrical distribution network has a radial structure; and if the electrical distribution network has a radial structure, open the resettable switching apparatus to disconnect the load from the first electrical feeder of the electrical distribution network. The electrical distribution network receives alternating current (AC) electrical power from at least two independent AC power sources.

A method of adaptive persistence forecasting includes receiving historical load values for a site with at least one component that consumes energy; receiving historical temperature values corresponding to dates of the historical load values; evaluating the historical load values and the historical temperature values to determine a correlation coefficient; determining that there exists at least a threshold correlation between a load activity and temperature for the historical load values and the historical temperature values based on the correlation coefficient; in response to determining that there exists at least the threshold correlation, normalizing the historical load values based on a set temperature; and applying an adaptive seasonal persistence model to the normalized historical load values to output a forecast for use in controlling energy resources at the site.

A voltage regulation device includes: an input node configured to receive electrical power from an electrical power source; a primary winding electrically connected to the input node; an output node configured to provide electrical power to a load; a shunt winding electrically connected to the output node; a converter configured to provide a compensation current to the shunt winding; and a control system configured to: determine a harmonic compensation signal based on harmonic frequency data; determine a reactive power compensation signal based on a reactive power set point; and control the converter based on the determined harmonic compensation signal and the determined reactive power compensation signal to produce the output compensation signal. The output compensation signal is configured to reduce the one or more harmonic frequency components in a current that flows in the output node and to control an amount of reactive power at the output node.

A voltage regulation system for an electrical power distribution network that receives electricity from one or more distributed energy resources includes: a voltage regulation device configured to maintain a voltage in the electrical power distribution network to within a voltage bandwidth, the voltage bandwidth including a range of voltages; and a control system coupled to the voltage regulation device, the control system configured to: analyze voltage data, the voltage data including a plurality of voltage samples, each of the voltage samples representing the voltage in the electrical power distribution network at a time within a period of time; determine an adjusted voltage bandwidth for the voltage regulation device based on the analysis; and change the voltage bandwidth of the voltage regulation device to the adjusted voltage bandwidth.
