According to an example embodiment of the disclosure, an electronic device may include: an antenna array comprising a plurality of antenna elements; a wireless communication circuit configured to perform communication with a signal source outside of the electronic device through the antenna array in an ultra-wideband (UWB); and a processor electrically connected to the wireless communication circuit, wherein the wireless communication circuit is configured to simultaneously radiate a first linearly polarized wave through a first antenna element among the plurality of antenna elements and a second linearly polarized wave through a second antenna element among the plurality of antenna elements, wherein an electric field of the first linearly polarized wave oscillates in a first direction, and wherein an electric field of the second linearly polarized wave oscillates in a second direction at an acute angle with respect to the first direction, and wherein the processor is configured to perform a positioning function with respect to the signal source based on a difference between arrival times of signals received from the signal source through the first and second antenna elements.

An example electronic device may include an antenna module including a printed circuit board, a plurality of conductive patches including a first conductive patch and a second conductive patch, an RFIC which is disposed on the second surface of the printed circuit board and includes a first tuning circuit, and a first conductive structure which includes a first portion extending from the first conductive patch, a second portion extending from the second conductive patch and connected to the first portion at a point positioned at one end of the first portion, and a first common portion connected to the first tuning circuit and connecting the first conductive patch and the second conductive patch to the first tuning circuit, a ground, and a wireless communication circuit, and the wireless communication circuit may be configured to feed the plurality of conductive patches to receive a signal in a designated frequency band.

An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a printed circuit board (PCB) including a plurality of layers, a communication circuit electrically coupled to the PCB, and at least one processor electrically coupled to the communication circuit. The PCB may include a first layer in which a plurality of patch antennas disposed, a first feeding path which feeds a first point of a first patch antenna so that the first patch antenna disposed to the first layer transmits and/or receives a first polarized signal, a second feeding path which feeds a second point of the first patch antenna so that the first patch antenna disposed to the first layer transmits and/or receives a second polarized signal orthogonal to the first polarized signal, a second layer including a ground, a first ground path, and a second ground.

According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, an electronic device may include: a housing; an antenna structure positioned in the housing and including a printed circuit board, multiple first antenna elements, multiple second antenna elements, and multiple electrical paths; and a wireless communication circuit electrically connected to the multiple first antenna elements through the electrical paths. The antenna structure may include antenna elements arranged for enhancing a communication performance and/or may be capable of securing the quality and the accuracy of the positioning for the signal source even though there are various directions or orientations where the electronic device faces, or various polarization characteristics of a signal transmitted from the signal source.

An ultra-wide band (UWB) antenna including a dielectric substrate, and first and second conductive layers arranged on opposite sides of the dielectric substrate. The first conductive layer includes a first, second and third patch antennae, each configured to receive a first UWB signal and a second UWB signal, wherein the second and third patch antennae are spaced apart from the first patch antenna in specific directions. The first conductive layer also includes first, second, and third transmission lines connecting, respectively, the first, second, and third patch antennae to a connector. The second conductive layer includes a ground pattern overlapping the first, second, and third patch antennae and the first, second, and third transmission lines, when facing the second conductive layer in a third direction that is perpendicular to the first direction and the second direction.

UWB antenna and electronic device including same

An electronic device is provided that includes a housing, an antenna structure, an electronic component, and a wireless communication circuit. The antenna structure includes a substrate, at least one conductive patch disposed at the substrate, at least one power feeder disposed at a position of the at least one conductive patch, and at least one electrical connection structure. The at least one electrical connection structure includes a first conductive via disposed to pass through the at least one conductive patch and a ground layer of the substrate, and a second conductive via passing through the at least one conductive patch and electrically connected to the ground layer. The electronic component is disposed to overlap at least in part with the at least one conductive patch when the substrate is viewed from above, and is electrically connected to a main board through the at least one electrical connection structure. The wireless communication circuit is electrically connected to the at least one power feeder, and is configured to form a beam pattern in a first direction through the at least one conductive patch.

According to various embodiments, an electronic device may include: a housing, an antenna structure disposed in the inner space of the housing, wherein the antenna structure includes: a substrate including a first substrate and a second substrate surface oriented in a direction opposite to the first substrate surface, and a first array antenna including a plurality of first chip antennas disposed at a specified interval in a first region of the first substrate surface, and a first wireless communication circuit disposed in the inner space and configured to transmit and/or receive a wireless signal of a first frequency band via the first array antenna.

An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a first conductive patch, a second conductive patch, a third conductive patch, and a wireless communication circuit. The first conductive patch includes a first edge facing the second conductive patch, a second edge perpendicularly meeting the first edge at a first corner, a third edge parallel to the first edge, and a fourth edge that is parallel to the second edge and perpendicularly meets the third edge at a second corner. The second conductive patch and the third conductive patch each have a shape identical to that of the first conductive patch. An electronic device according to various embodiments includes a mmWave antenna module including a plurality of first antenna elements disposed on a first surface that is oriented in a first direction, a first coupling unit that protrudes in a second direction from a second surface that is perpendicular to the first surface and is oriented in the second direction, and an RFIC disposed on a third surface oriented in a third direction opposite to the first direction.
