The invention relates to a devicefor dosing and dry nebulization of nebulizable materialchosen from the group comprising anti-infective agents and immunomodulators, comprising a nebulization channel, which has a first attachment piece and a second attachment piece, and a source of compressed carrier gas connected to the first attachment piece via a valvefor the purpose of sending a carrier gas pressure pulse into the nebulization channel. The device is characterized in that between the first attachment piece and second attachment piece, and above the nebulization channel, a reservoiropen only towards the nebulization channel, which contains the nebulizable material, is connected to the nebulization channel such that it is gas-tight with respect to the environment, and that, when the valve is closed, a pressure compensation takes place in the nebulization channel and in the reservoir. The invention also relates to a method for dosing and dry nebulization of such a nebulizable material by means of such a device.

The invention relates to aerosolized and humidified particles comprising a therapeutically active substance which can be obtained by suspending dry inhalable particles in a carrier gas, adding water vapor and causing condensation of water on the particles. The invention further relates to methods to generate these particles, and apparatus useful to carry out such methods.

The invention relates to a device () for dosing and dry nebulization of nebulizable material, comprising a nebulization channel (), which has a first attachment piece and a second attachment piece, and a source of compressed carrier gas connected to the first attachment piece via a valve for the purpose of sending a carrier gas pressure pulse into the nebulization channel. The device is characterized in that between the first attachment piece and second attachment piece, and above the nebulization channel, a reservoir open only towards the nebulization channel, and used for receiving the nebulizable material, is connected to the nebulization channel such that it is gas-tight with respect to the environment, and that, when the valve is closed, a pressure compensation takes place in the nebulization channel and in the reservoir. The invention also relates to the use of this device for inhaled administration of a powdered pharmaceutical preparation, and to a method for dosing and dry nebulization of nebulizable material by means of such a device.

The claimed subject matter relates to a device for dosing and aerosolization of aerosolizable material. The device includes a body with an aerosolization channel with a distal attachment for connecting a source of carrier gas. The carrier gas provides pressure pulses to the aerosolization channel. A proximal attachment allows the aerosolized material to move to a reservoir for receiving the aerosolizable material. The reservoir is connected to the body via the the aerosolization channel. At least part of the walls of the device are self-exciting membranes that can be put into oscillation by the pressure pulses.

The claimed subject matter relates to a device for dosing and aerosolization of aerosolizable material. The device comprises: a body with an aerosolization channel with a distal attachment portion connectable to a source of carrier gas which provides pressure pulses to the aerosolization channel; a proximal attachment portion for outputting aerosolized material and a reservoir for receiving aerosolizable material. The reservoir comprises walls and is connected in a gas-tight manner to the body and in fluid connection with the aerosolization channel. At least part of the walls of the device are self-exciting membranes that can be put into oscillation by the pressure pulses.

An aerosol generator useful as an atomizer for controllably and reproduci producing wet or dry aerosols for inhalation studies, including a nebulizer for producing an aerosol from a liquid and an air stream, a liquid dosing device such as a step dosing pump for controllably feeding a liquid to be atomized to the neubilizer, an apparatus such as a mass flow controller for regulating the flow of an air stream to the nebulizer to provide an amount needed to atomize the liquid, and optionally to dilute the resulting aerosol, a conduit for conveying the aerosol formed in the nebulizer to an aerosol exposure chamber, a measuring device such as a light-scattering diffusion photometer into which a sample of the aerosol is introduced for determining the concentration of the aerosol, and a control unit for controlling the liquid supply device and the adjustable air supply to produce an aerosol having a predetermined desired concentration; the control unit being operated either manually or by a computer responsive to measured values determined by the measuring device.
