An integrated data analytics tool is described that enables users to efficiently create and communicate data analysis flows or storylines. The data analytics tool includes graphical user interfaces (GUIs) that enable users to create data analysis 'pipelines' that serve as both a visual and technical representation of a data analysis flow. Among other features, a data analysis pipeline enables users to easily add and link related data visualizations in a pipeline, to update datasets and filters associated with data visualizations in a pipeline and to have those updates be propagated automatically to other visualizations in the pipeline, and to create side-by-side comparisons of visualizations based on different datasets/filters. Users presented with such data visualization pipelines can also interact with the visualizations and dynamically update a displayed analysis by selecting different datasets, filters, pipeline paths, and so forth.

Creating and communicating data analyses using data visualization pipelines

In an embodiment, a method comprises storing metadata that maps a domain model to data stored in a plurality of data stores, each data store being associated with a particular query language, the domain model describing the data and relationships between the data. The method comprises receiving a request for data stored in a first data store of, the request being in a request query language based on the domain model. The method comprises generating an abstract syntax tree indicating a field selection, an entity path, and a condition based on the request; generating a structure model comprising one or more aggregation levels for one or more entities; and generating annotations comprising query language aliases for portions of the request and correlating the portions of the request with the metadata. The method comprises generating queries in a first query language associated with the first data store based on the annotations; and sending the queries to the first data store.

Metadata-based general request translator for distributed computer systems

In accordance with various embodiments of the present disclosure, topology data, machine performance data, and service performance data of at least one stack of a cloud computing system are received by a cityscape generator. The cityscape generator may then generate a three-dimensional cityscape including at least one neighborhood that represents the at least one stack of the cloud computing system, the at least one neighborhood includes a cluster of first nodes associated with compute resources of a frontend of the at least one stack, a cluster of second nodes associated with compute resources of a backend of the at least one stack, and a cluster of third nodes associated with compute resources of a database cluster of the at least one stack, the generation of the three-dimensional cityscape being based the topology data, the machine performance data, and the service performance data. The cityscape generator may then cause the display of the three-dimensional cityscape.

Generating three-dimensional representation of one or more cloud computing systems

Systems, methods, and computer readable media are disclosed for generating and providing concurrent journey visualizations associated with different journey definitions. In computer-implemented embodiments, a data intake and query system, or a journey visualization computing tool, can be used to generate and provide concurrent representations corresponding with different journey definitions. In operation, a set of journey instances associated with a journey having a set of steps is obtained. Each step may be associated with at least one event that includes raw machine data produced by a component of an information technology environment. Upon obtaining different journey definitions specifying filters to apply to the set of journey instances, the data intake and query system can generate journey visualizations in accordance with the journey definitions. Thereafter, the journey visualizations corresponding with the journey definitions can be concurrently displayed by a computing device via a graphical user interface.

Generating and providing concurrent journey visualizations associated with different journey definitions

Systems and methods are disclosed for processing events having raw machine data associated with a timestamp using one or more pivot identifiers and one or more step identifiers to generate one or more journey instances. Based on the one or more pivot identifier field, the system can relate events that have a common field value for the pivot identifier field. Based on the one or more step identifiers, the system can group the related events into a subset of events. Using the subset of events the system can build a journey instance.

In an embodiment, a method comprises generating and storing metadata that maps a domain model to data stored in a data store, wherein the domain model describes the data and relationships between the data; receiving, from a client application, a request for data stored in the data store, wherein the request is in a first query language; translating the request into one or more queries based on the metadata, wherein the one or more queries are in a second query language; sending the one or more queries to the data store; receiving a first result set from the data store, based on the data store executing the one or more queries.

Various embodiments included herein include at least one of systems, methods, and software for explanatory animation generation. Some embodiments include receiving data representative of at least two data items, each data item to be presented as a node. Relationships between these data items are discovered in an interrelated dataset and the relationship is illustrated as a set of sequential nodes on a canvas. A text-script descriptive of each of the nodes is then generated. Finally, such embodiments include generating a visualization with a synchronized voiceover based on the sequence nodes and the text-script, the visualization including each node with a synchronized voiceover of each node.

Explanatory animation generation

A visualization engine may provide, on a screen, a visual display of an object, the object being associated with object data having a data display size smaller than a visual threshold and therefore not displayed on the screen. The visualization engine may include a request handler configured to receive a magnification request to magnify the object at a magnification speed, a threshold manager configured to determine a data threshold at which fetching of the object data must be initiated to ensure receipt thereof prior to the visual threshold being reached, and an object comparator configured to initiate fetching of the object data, based on the visual threshold, the data threshold, and the magnification speed. The visualization engine may then display the object data within the object upon magnification of the object meeting the visual threshold.

A system stores visual content, and displays the visual content on a display unit in an undistorted, overview projection. The system receives input from a user to focus on a topic in the undistorted, overview projection, and transforms the undistorted, overview projection into a focused display showing the topic selected by the user and content related to the topic selected by the user in a continuous sequence of increasingly distorted projections. In the focused display, the content that is not related to the topic selected by the user does not move on the focused display, and the content that is related to the topic selected by the user moves towards the topic selected by the user on the focused display.

Among other disclosed subject matter, a computer program product is tangibly embodied in a computer-readable storage medium and includes instructions that when executed by a processor perform a method for recording information about an item. The method includes assigning a unique identifier to an item in a repository, the item supporting versioning and being subject to a data model having no predefined schema for items. The method includes associating a first attribute with the unique identifier, the first attribute being part of the item and being configured for modification. The method includes associating the first attribute with a version number, wherein the versioning is supported without recording in the repository a time period when the first attribute is valid.

Techniques are described for providing visual bundlers that group and represent specified data subsets of very large datasets in a manner that is expressive and intuitive for a user, and which provide a dynamic, configurable visualization that may be leveraged by the user to search, aggregate, or otherwise interact with the data of a very large dataset. By nesting such visual bundlers, a geometric equivalent of a dynamically-generated search tree is realized, in which a structure for executing a search for a desired data element is not required to be fixed or otherwise predefined. Consequently, during a runtime of providing related visualizations, multiple alternative search trees may be created for the same underlying content, with minimal effort, and in a manner that is highly intuitive and useful for the user.

In an embodiment, a user input defining an enclosed, graphical shape on a video display is received. A number of graphical items are identified as being included within the enclosed, graphical shape. Here, each graphical item is displayed on the video display and represents a data object that has a number of properties. In an embodiment, a method is provided for organizing semi-structured data having properties. In this method, the semi-structured data are accessed and rendered on a graphical user interface. A user input defining a first graphical layout of a first subset of the semi-structured data is received. A second subset of the semi-structured data is identified as having properties similar to the properties of the first subset of the semi-structured data. A second graphical layout of the second subset of the semi-structured data is then provided. The second graphical layout matches the first graphical layout.
