A vehicle interior lining having very good sound absorbing properties and is air-permeable to air comprises an outside decorative layer, a barrier layer arranged on the rear side of the decorative layer, and a foamed layer which directly adjoins the barrier layer and is produced by back foaming. The barrier layer is formed from cellulose fleece and prevents the material used to form the foamed layer from seeping through to the decorative layer. The vehicle interior lining is air-permeable after the foamed layer is cured and can be used as, for example, a roof lining.

Method of producing a vehicle interior lining and vehicle interior lining

A vehicle interior lining having good sound absorbing properties and that is permeable to air is formed from an intermediate product comprising an inside decorative layer and a barrier layer made of open-cell foam. The barrier layer adjoins the rear side of the decorative layer. A foam backing is disposed on the rear side of the intermediate product is provided with a foam backing. The barrier layer prevents the foam backing material from penetrating through toward the decorative layer, eliminating the need for a barrier film and improving sound absorption. The interior lining can be used as a roof lining.

A modular vehicle roof, in particular motor vehicle roof, is proposed which has a strong outer roof skin as its outer shell and an inner shell of foamed plastics connected firmly thereto, preferably foamed thereon, in the manner of the sandwich. A preferably transparent panel of glass or plastics, which allows light to reach the vehicle interior, is inserted into the vehicle roof and attached and sealed thereto in a particular way, approximately flush with the outer surface. The modular vehicle roof is simple and economic to produce, is light and has only a small structural height.

An edge gap sealing arrangement for the rigid lid (1) of an automobile sliding roof, which arrangement is moulded on to the peripheral edge of the lid (1) to form a frame body (3). The frame body has an initially free edge strip (5) extending outwards, which is bent over to form a hollow chamber (7). The strip is arranged to be adjustably secured preferably from below to the frame body (3) with its outer edge adjacent to the peripheral edge of the lid. The seal so formed is adjustable as to its cross-section and the width of the hollow chamber (7) so that it is adapted to dimensional variations and irregularities in the edge gap. Preferably at the outer edge of the edge strip (5) an inner surface portion (8) is provided, which after the edge strip (5) has been bent to form the hollow chamber (7), is adjustably secured to a counter-surface (9) of the frame body (3) by means of a clamping profile strip (10). The clamping profile strip (10) engages into a clamping groove (11) of the frame body (3).
