A generator switch includes phase conductors each equipped with one disconnector and one vacuum switch having a horizontally disposed pole gap. At least one vacuum chamber is provided per phase. The disconnector is constructed as a linear-travel disconnector, and the vacuum chambers are disposed spatially one behind the other, are aligned with the disconnector, and are each accommodated in one tubular housing which surrounds all of the components of a phase as an outer encapsulation.

Generator switch

An apparatus for operating a combined interrupter disconnect switch is disclosed. The disconnect switch is operated by a slow speed linear motion of a mechanism pullrod. The interrupter, which is a component of the disconnect switch arm, is operated by a high speed linear motion of the same mechanism pullrod. In a preferred embodiment, the apparatus of the present invention comprises: an operating rod; a high speed operating mechanism connected to the operating rod; a sliding gear having an elongated gear face; a motor, rotatably connected to the sliding gear; a coupling gear drive having a longitudinally disposed threaded shaft and an external gear face, connected to the operating rod and meshed with said sliding gear; a threaded rod threaded into the threaded shaft of the coupling gear drive; and a drive rod connected to the threaded rod and to the mechanism pullrod. The high speed operating mechanism and motor respectively provide high speed and slow speed linear motion to the mechanism pullrod. The elongated gear face of the sliding gear permits decoupling of the high speed operating mechanism and slow speed motor, although both are acting on the same mechanism pullrod. In a preferred embodiment, the operating mechanism of the present invention also comprises upper and lower limit switches, controlled by a switch control bracket, for transmitting open and close commands to the high speed operating mechanism and motor.

Operating mechanism for combined interrupter disconnect switch

A hydraulic device for a moving contact piece of a high-voltage power circuit breaker includes a reservoir and a low-pressure tank for hydraulic fluid. A changeover valve has a slide for alternately connecting one of the spaces in the drive-piston/cylinder configuration to the reservoir and to the low-pressure tank. At least one separately controlled and arranged control piston is associated with the slide. A servovalve controls the at least one control piston to drive the slide from a first position to a second position, i.e., from a connected position to a disconnected position of the power circuit breaker.

Hydraulic device for operating a drive piston for a moving component

A metal-encapsulated, gas-insulated high-voltage circuit-breaker includes a fixed contact configuration which is accommodated in its own fixed contact housing, and a moving contact piece configuration which is driven by a first drive and is accommodated in a contact housing that is connected to the moving contact piece configuration or can move with said contact piece configuration during a switching operation. The contact configurations may have contact pieces for a rated current and for guiding and extinguishing an arc. At the same time, a device is provided for producing a gas flow. The device includes a dielectric nozzle in which the arc burns and is blown and which is guided in a sealed manner in the fixed contact housing throughout an entire switching operation. In order to achieve a disconnecter switch function, a second drive is provided which, during or after completion of the disconnection operation, drives the fixed contact housing with the fixed contact piece configuration counter to the disconnection direction of the moving contact piece configuration, in such a way that the insulating nozzle is released from its guide and an isolating path is thus achieved in order to provide a disconnecter switch function.

Metal-encapsulated, gas-insulated high-voltage circuit-breaker

A hydraulic device for operating at least one linearly movable component, especially a movable contact piece of a medium-voltage or high-voltage power circuit breaker, includes a piston-cylinder configuration being assigned to the at least one component. A high-pressure reservoir supplies a hydraulic fluid at high pressure to the piston-cylinder configuration. A low-pressure reservoir is provided for the hydraulic fluid. A pump conveys the hydraulic fluid from the low-pressure reservoir to the high-pressure reservoir. A central distribution device is connected to the at least one component and has at least one line for the hydraulic fluid at high pressure and at least one line for the hydraulic fluid at low pressure.

Hydraulic device for operating at least one linearly movable component

A hydraulic device for a hydraulic drive for a high-voltage circuit-breaker includes a drive piston for a movable contact piece having two piston sides being in connection with a high-pressure reservoir in a closed condition and being acted upon by high-pressure fluid on both sides. For circuit-breaking, a switch-over valve releases a path to a low-pressure space for the fluid in the space with the larger piston area. At least one circuit-closing pilot valve and circuit-breaking pilot valve activate the switch-over valve. A settable delay volume for the fluid is connected in parallel with at least the at least one circuit-breaking pilot valve.

Hydraulic device for a hydraulic drive for a high-tension circuit-breaker

In a method and a configuration for operating a hydraulic drive, a 3/2-port directional seat valve, which is driven by solenoid coils, controls an application of high-pressure fluid through a working piston of a piston/cylinder system. In order to increase the circuit-breaking capacity of the working piston, a hydraulic booster valve which is driven hydraulically by the 3/2-port directional seat valve is used for clearing a direct path from the piston/cylinder system to the low-pressure reservoir during switching-off.

A hydraulic drive includes a pressure housing having a blind axial recess formed therein with a wall and a bottom, an accumulator piston with first and second opposite ends disposed in the recess, an energy accumulator in the form of springs disposed symmetrical to the central axis of the accumulator piston for continuously engaging the accumulator piston braced against the springs, a working piston in the form of a differential piston guided in the recess having a piston rod passing through the accumulator piston and disposed centrally in the pressure housing, the piston rod, the pressure housing and the accumulator piston defining the wall of the recess, the piston rod, the pressure housing, the first end of the accumulator piston and the working piston defining an accumulator space in the form of a hydraulic accumulator providing pressure energy for the hydraulic drive without requiring an external energy supply, the second end of the accumulator piston and the wall and the bottom of the recess defining a plenum for receiving spent hydraulic fluid at low pressure, and the accumulator piston separating the accumulator space from the plenum.

A switch drive assembly includes a switch having a contact and a control shaft for actuating the contact and switching substantially currentlessly, and a drive having a drive motor, a flywheel accumulator connected to the drive motor for receiving a change from the drive motor immediately prior to a switching process, the flywheel accumulator being coupled to the control shaft for discharging during a switching process and executing a previously initiated switching process, the drive motor acting as a generator for generation of a self-sufficient voltage supply during discharge of the flywheel accumulator.

A hydraulic accumulator for providing pressurized fluid for a hydraulic system, includes a cylinder, a piston movably disposed in the cylinder defining a space in the cylinder on one side of the piston for pressurized fluid, and a mechanical spring device connected to the piston for generating pressure in the pressurized fluid.

A high pressure accumulator for supplying working fluid of a hydraulic control system includes a cylinder, walls disposed on ends of the cylinder, a piston movable within the cylinder defining a space for the working fluid on one side of the piston and a space for gas forming a gas spring on the other side of the piston, a support tube disposed at one of the walls in the gas space, a spring disposed on the support tube, and a stop disposed on the spring for limiting movement of the piston upon the occurrence of a gas loss in the gas space.

High pressure accumulator

An electrical high-tension circuit breaker with main contacts and auxiliary contacts in parallel to the main contacts. Both sets of contacts are actuated by hydraulic drives which are fed from a hydraulic accumulator. The drive of this circuit breaker is of high reliability and small size considering the power to be switched. This is achieved with a main drive which contains a piston-cylinder arrangement which can be pressurized with hydraulic fluid via a main valve and a secondary drive which is actuated via a valve arrangement. The valve arrangement is controllable as a function of the position of the main contacts and/or the auxiliary contacts. With this drive, failure-susceptible elements, such as catches, mechanical dampers and couplings, are avoided. The drive is preferably for high-tension circuit breakers for voltages above 220 kV.

Drive for a high-tension circuit breaker

A circuit breaker, in particular a high-voltage circuit breaker employing SF.sub.6 gas, possesses a fixed contact part, and a movable switching piece which is provided with a blast nozzle and can be actuated by a drive. During the process of tripping out, a compression space is rendered smaller to generate a flow of gas towards the blast nozzle and an arc produced during switching out by movement of a movable cylinder over a stationary piston head. In order to reduce the drive power, the compression space is surrounded by a coil for generating a magnetic field. The coil is capable of being switched into the current path in such a manner that, during the process of tripping out, current does not flow through the coil until disconnection has been effected at the main contact point. An auxiliary piston is located in the compression space. The auxiliary piston is capable of being driven by the magnetic field toward the contact point in order to render the compression space smaller.

Circuit breaker

A high-voltage circuit breaker having a fixed contact and a movable contact also has a piston/cylinder system for generating a quenching gas flow to extinguish an arc during a switching action. The piston of the piston/cylinder system is connected to the movable contact. For the purpose of increasing the pressure in the quenching gas flow and for extending the blowing process, an auxiliary piston is provided on the opposite side of the fixed cylinder wall as the main piston. The auxiliary piston is driven in conjunction with the movable contact and the main piston of the piston/cylinder system in such a manner that it is moved in the first half of the circuit-breaking movement in opposition to the direction of movement of the main piston, and in the second half of the circuit-breaking movement in synchronism with the piston of the piston/cylinder system, into a circuit breaking position. In the first half of the movement the space between the auxiliary piston and the fixed cylinder wall is compressed so that the gas located therein is pushed into the space between the cylinder and the main piston of the piston/cylinder system.
