A machine for brewing coffee, tea or other hot beverages has a hollow housing for a water heater which is disposed beneath and can directly heat a warming plate serving to support a pot, a carafe, a vacuum bottle, a cup or another vessel for a freshly brewed beverage which is being discharged from the chamber of a filter holder above the warming plate. If the nature of the material of the vessel is such that the bottom wall of the vessel should not be heated to an elevated temperature, the operator inserts a distancing element between the warming plate and the casing of the heater. The area of contact between the heater and warming plate on the one hand, and the distancing element on the other hand, can be selected with a view to ensure a desirable reduction from that rate of heat tranfer which takes place when the heater is in direct and large-area contact with the warming plate. The distancing element can be made of a single piece of metallic wire and is provided with a male locating member fitting into a socket in the casing of the heater to ensure that the distancing element is held in an optimum position between the heater and the warming plate.

Machine for brewing hot beverages

A vacuum bottle wherein the housing of the insulating jacket has a top section with a circular opening for the extension of a cover which overlies the opening and can be rotated to move one of two apertures in a downwardly extending skirt of the extension into register with a passage at the inlet end of a spout. The cover is separably coupled to the top section of the housing by a bayonet mount which causes the cover to rise during rotation to a pouring position and to descend during rotation to a sealing position. The jacket confines a receptacle for a hot or cold beverage which can be dispensed by way of the spout in the pouring position of the cover.

Apparatus for manufacturing wheel rim blanks

A head rotatable about an axis for machining and simultaneously polishing the peripheral surfaces of shafts or the like, comprises a support plate provided with a central opening through which a shaft to be machined and polishing may extend. A plurality of tool supports are mounted in a star-like manner on the support plate adjustable in radial direction toward a shaft extending through the central opening. The tool supports alternatingly carry at inner ends knives or polishing rolls. A central adjustment device is provided for simultaneously adjusting of the tools carried by the tool supports through equal distances in radial direction toward the workpiece. The central adjustment is carried out by a plurality of angular drives, each including a bevel gear for each tool support and at least one gear ring with which the bevel gears mesh. It is also possible to adjust all tool supports carrying the knives independent from all tool supports carrying the polishing rolls in which case two gear rings are provided which are turnably mounted on the support plate concentric with the axis of the head.

Apparatus for bundling elongated workpieces includes a generally U-shaped trough having a vertically movable bottom wall for adjusting the depth of the trough. A horizontally and vertically movable pusher feeds the workpieces transversely of their length toward the trough for positioning a plurality of the workpieces in side-by-side relationship to form a horizontal row. Horizontally movable support rails are movable selectively between a position extending across the trough spaced above its movable bottom wall wherein a new row of workpieces is positioned on the rails, and a position displaced from the trough for allowing the new row of workpieces to glide in stacking relationship on a previous row of workpieces resting on the movable bottom wall. A slope structure is inclined downwardly toward the pusher. A movable stop is positioned adjacent the lower end of the slope structure, and is movable between a stopping position for stopping workpieces moving down the slope toward the trough and a retracted position for allowing movement of workpieces therepast into the trough by operation of the pusher.

Apparatus for bundling elongated workpieces

A gripping arrangement for longitudinally advancing elongated workpieces, particularly for use in a drawing bench, a stripping machine and the like, comprises a pair of supports which are mounted on guide rails for movement in paths which are parallel to one another and to the direction of advancement of the workpiece, and co-extensive. Jaw elements are mounted on the supports for movement therewith and for displacement between closed positions in which they engage, and open positions in which they are disengaged from, the workpiece. The gripping arrangement is located downstream of a die and operates in such a manner that always at least one pair of the jaw elements associated with one of the supports engages the workpiece and advances the same in a given direction, thus drawing the workpiece through the die. While one of the supports with its jaw elements draws the workpiece through the die, the other support with its jaw elements in their open positions returns to the upstream end of its path past the one support and its associated closed pair of jaws. The jaw elements of each of the supports extend beyond the support toward the path of movement of the other support, but the jaw elements of the two supports do not interfere with one another when at least one pair of the jaw elements is in the open position thereof. The two supports are independently driven into movement in their paths so that the speed and direction of movement of each support can be selected independently of the speed and direction of movement of the other support.

Gripping arrangement

Apparatus for pulling elongated workpieces and which apparatus includes a pair of reciprocating clamping devices disposed in a side-by-side relationship and movable in towing and return directions. Elongated rotatable drive shafts extending parallel to the pulling and return directions include helical pulling and return drive paths. Drive path followers on each clamping device switch between the pulling drive path and return drive path for reciprocating the clamping devices.

Apparatus for pulling elongated workpieces

A slicing machine has a housing on which a blade is rotatable about a horizontal axis. The blade is covered by a cover plate which must be in position in order to allow depression of the push-button which starts the device. In addition, the blade is held to its hub by means of a connecting element that connects screw-fashion to the hub over the blade and which can be removed or tightened by hand. A support plate adjacent the blade can be swung between a down position in which a foodstuff can be slid along it during slicing and an up position out of the way paralllel to the blade. A foot on this support plate can be moved between a projecting position in which it can function as a foot and a flat position recessed in the support plate.

A gripping arrangement for longitudinally advancing elongated workpieces, particularly for use in a drawing bench, a stripping machine and the like, comprises a pair of supports which are mounted on guide rails for movement in paths which are parallel to one another and to the direction of advancement of the workpiece, and coextensive. Jaw elements are mounted on the supports for movement therewith and for displacement between closed positions in which they engage, and open positions in which they are disengaged from, the workpiece. The gripping arrangement is located downstream of a die and operates in such a manner that always at least one pair of jaw elements associated with one of the supports engages the workpiece and advances the same in a given direction, thus drawing the workpiece through the die. While one of the supports with its jaw elements draws the workpiece through the die, the other support with its jaw elements in their open positions returns to the upstream end of its path the one support and its associated closed pair of jaws. The jaw elements of each of the support extend beyond the support toward the path of movement of the other support, but the jaw elements of the two supports do not interfere with one another as long as at least one pair of the jaw elements is in the open position thereof. A drive for displacing the jaws between the positions thereof includes a movable member and a pair of links which are pivoted to the jaws and to the movable member. The two supports are independently driven into movement in their paths so that the speed and direction of movement of each support can be selected independently of the speed and direction of movement of the other support.

Apparatus for machining the surface of an elongated rigid workpiece passing therethrough in a predetermined direction along a path. The apparatus includes at least one station having opposed tools for engaging opposite sides of the workpiece. The tools have tool axes extending generally perpendicular to the path. The tools are mounted for movement of their axes toward and away from the path, and for tilting movement of their axes relative to the path in a plane extending generally perpendicular to the path.

Machine for working metal surface

The apparatus has a transporting arrangement which is movable in a predetermined direction and workpiece gripping devices which grip a workpiece to be withdrawn in this direction from a machine tool. The gripping devices are movable with the transporting arrangement in the aforementioned direction and are also movable relative to the transporting arrangement in and opposite to this direction. A control device controls the relative movement between the gripping device and the transporting device.
