The invention relates to an ignition unit ( ) suitable for triggering an active system, such as an airbag or safety belt. The ignition unit comprises an ignition charge ( ) located in a housing ( ), which can be fired by means of an ignition bridge ( ) positioned on a support element ( ), as well as at least one contact pin ( ) which protrudes from the housing ( ) and via an electronic ignition system ( ) is electrically connected to the ignition bridge ( ). The ignition bridge ( ) is not covered by the envelope ( ) so that during ignition the pressure exerted on the electronic ignition system ( ) is cushioned. Externally controlled ignition unit with integrated electronic system for triggering a restraint system

A pyrotechnical ignition system with integrated ignition circuit for an occupant restraint system for motor vehicles includes electrical components for triggering or communication functions integrated therein, a capacitor arrangement, having a flat non-conductive external surface is used as a substrate or carrier element on which the other components are directly arranged and carried. A conductor structure linking the components can be formed by insertable metal parts that are arranged in the housing and project into the holding chamber in which the capacitor arrangement and the circuit component are arranged, and make contact with contact zones on the upper side of the circuit or the capacitor arrangement. The conductor structure may be a printed-conductor structure that is precipitated on non-conductive external surfaces of the capacitor arrangement, and the lateral surfaces thereof, connect the upper and the lower sides of the ignition capacitor as well as the individual capacitor electrodes within the capacitor arrangement to form one or several capacitors, in particular the ignition capacitor. The ignition bridge layer is situated on the capacitor arrangement or on the circuit.

Pyrotechnical ignition system with integrated ignition circuit

An igniting element, such as is used in a vehicle air bag igniter reduces the power dissipated by the air bag ignition circuit, as well as its space requirement and its costs, by using the ignition switch/switches as the ignition element (,) itself of the ignition circuit. The ignition circuit is integrated in a silicon chip, and has at least one ignition switch constructed as a transistor.

In the case of a semiconductor igniter, particularly for the gas generator of a protection system for vehicle occupants, consisting of a semiconductor layer which is arranged on a carrier with the insertion of a thermal insulation layer, is connected at the end side to electric contact areas and during the current passage in the ignition path range heats up in an ignition-triggering manner, while maintaining a high ignition efficiency, a mechanically secure linking of the semiconductor layer to the carrier is achieved in that the thermal insulation layer is limited to the ignition path range of the semiconductor layer and the semiconductor layer is connected directly with the carrier at its end sections kept free of the thermal insulation layer.

Semiconductor igniter

Acceleration sensors in a vehicular safety system with at least two acceleration sensors are stimulated by an electrical or sound excitation so that one of the sensors functions as a body sound transmitter, while the other(s) receive(s) these signals and vice versa. The performance which includes a calibration check, and the coupling to the housing structure are evaluated through a signal processing circuit. The safety system including its output trigger stage, remains switched-on during testing.

A method and apparatus for adjusting an aiming telescope and a laser range finder with a weapon system which is equipped with a weapon computer, a data memory and a computer-controlled graticule adjusting device. Laser beams are fired consecutively by a collimation line testing device and by the laser range finder, into a collimator. A reference reticle or an aiming graticule of the aiming telescope are aligned with the laser beam images in the collimator, and the aligned position is stored in the data memory.

The device for visibility measurement is designed primarily for use in motor vehicles. A light emitter is arranged inside the driver's compartment preferably on the rear view mirror in front of the windshield. The light emitter generates light pulses or flashes radiating through the windshield. The light scattered back due to soiling on the inside and outside of the windshield or in scatter zones, formed by fog or smoke or the like, in front of the windshield, impinges a light sensor, preferably likewise arranged on the rear view mirror inside the driver's compartment. By utilizing light pulses of various wavelengths and processing of the output signals of the light sensor in predetermined or predeterminable time windows or intervals, not only the respective visibility but also the type of viewing impairment can be determined.

Device for visibility measurement for a motor vehicle

An optical system for motion compensation of line scanners to improve the resolution in one or more spectral channels, the system having a motion of its own or being arranged on a moving observation platform. A multi-faced prism is provided which is associated with the optical system and rotates about its central axis at a settable rotational speed. The integration time for imaging a radiation source is increased due to the rotation of the prism in a direction opposite the track or flight direction.
