A connecting device includes first and second housing parts which are rotatable relative to one another and are coupled together to define a space therebetween. At least one flexible cable is provided in the space defined by the housing parts. Each cable includes first and second end sections which are configured to be rolled and unrolled in a spiral or helix on associated contact surfaces of the housing parts, respectively. The end sections normally extend in opposite directions from each other circumferentially around the housing parts so that a U-shaped turning area at which cable movement reverses is formed in the space defined by the housing parts. Magnetic areas are arranged on at least one of each cable, the first housing part, and the second housing part to cause the end sections of each cable to removably adhere to the respective contact surfaces of the housing parts.

Connecting device

A flexible flat cable includes at least two layers of nonwoven fabric, the fabric consisting of fibers selected from the group consisting of polyester, polyamide, polyolefin, syndiotactic polystyrene, polysulfone, and glass, the fabric having pores between the fibers, the flat cable also includes a first signal lead embedded between the at least two fibers and a binder disposed in the pores so as to provide the fabric with at least one of a dielectric strength of at least 500 V and a dimensional stability of at least 0.05% at a temperature of 140&#xb0; C. over a period of 24 hours.

Flexible flat cable

A sealing arrangement including a sealing ring with a support ring extending substantially in a radial direction. The support ring is joined in the radial direction to a first sealing element that lies in contact with and is nonrotatable with respect to a first machine element to form a static seal. The support ring is also joined in the radial direction to a second sealing element that is placed against a second machine element rotatably with respect to the second machine element to create a dynamic seal. The first and second sealing elements are each made of an elastomeric material, and the sealing ring has, in order to sense rotational movements of the first machine element about its axis, at least one auxiliary device that can move past a rotational speed sensor. The auxiliary device can be a multipole ring made of a pasty, hardenable, and magnetizable material that is arranged as a intermediate layer of film-like thinness on the side of the support ring facing the rotational speed sensor. The multipole ring has north and south poles alternating in the circumferential direction and extending in the radial direction, and the multipole ring is completely covered by the elastomeric material of the first and/or second sealing elements.

Sealing arrangement

A sealing arrangement which includes a sealing ring with a support ring extending substantially in the radial direction and is joined in the radial direction on one end to a first sealing element that lies in sealing contact with a first machine element nonrotatably with respect thereto and in a statically sealing manner, and is joined in the radial direction on another end to a second sealing element that is placed against a second machine element rotatably with respect thereto and in a dynamically sealing manner. The first and second sealing elements are each made of an elastomeric material, and the sealing ring has, in order to sense rotational movements of the first machine element about its axis, at least one auxiliary device that can move past a rotational speed sensor. The auxiliary device may be a multipole ring, rotatable together with the first machine element about its axis, that is made of a magnetizable material. The multipole ring may have north and south poles alternating in the circumferential direction and extending in the radial direction.

A flat seal having a first and a second sealing surface made of polymer material is disclosed. Each of the polymer sealing surfaces is made of a formed-fabric-reinforced cover layer. At least two of these cover layers together provide a flexible, electrical printed-circuit board, whose material completely surrounds electrical interconnect traces in the sealing areas. The interconnect traces are provided with connecting conductors, which are brought with terminal pads out of the printed-circuit board. The material of the cover layers has an electrical resistance of at least 10.sup.8 ohm and provides insulation for the interconnect traces.

Flat seal

A method for manufacturing a sealing ring. A support ring is provided, and at least one pasty, magnetizable material is applied onto a side of said support ring. The material is then hardened. First and second elastomeric sealing elements are vulcanized to the support ring, such that the ring is covered by the elastomeric material of said first sealing element. The magnetizable material is then magnetized. The magnetizable material may be a paste with at least two homogeneously distributed magnetic materials. At least two magnetic materials may be applied in succession onto said support ring; in that method, the second magnetic material is not applied until after a step of hardening the first magnetic material. After said step of hardening, the support ring may be deformed and punched out.

A flame-resistant cover film for flexible circuit boards having excellent flame-resistance, handling, and storage qualities may be produced by treating an insulating film of a nonwoven polymer fabric with a flame-resistant, halogen-free polymeric adhesive. The polymeric adhesive comprises an aqueous mixture of a copolymerizate of acrylic acid esters and styrene, and an aminoplastic or phenoplastic precondensate to which a mixture of fine-particle red phosphorus and fine-particle ammonium polyphosphate is also added.

Flame-resistant cover film for flexible circuit boards

In a process for manufacturing printed-circuit boards which have rigid and flexible areas or internal layers of printed-circuit boards, a piece of the surface is punched out to form a window in every area of the insulating layer material which is to be flexible. The punched out piece is reinserted into the punched-out window as a filling piece before laminating the compound of individual layers.

A multi-layer through-hole contacted flexible circuit board and method of manufacture thereof is presented having a laminar construction which is strictly symmetrical in the bending area; and which have no exposed adhesive. Registration holes are first introduced in a copper-laminated base material, then, avoiding the bending area, with the aid of the registration holes, an adhesive layer is applied to the non-conductive film carrier of the base material. Next, a second copper foil is placed on the adhesive layer. Thereafter, all of the layers are laminated. This is followed by the formation of through-holes in the area surrounding the bending area while circuit patterns are formed in the flexible or bending area (the registration holes again providing assistance in positioning). The spaces between the circuit pattern, as well as the entire copper foil, is then etched away in the bending area, and, finally, all the conducting path areas are covered with non-conductive cover film. As a result, the conducting paths are located in the 'neutral section', that is, the area of the flexible circuit board which is neutral with respect to the forces generated during bending.
