A bolt-on part, especially a front or rear bumper, of a motor vehicle, that can be exposed especially in its outer wall to impact energy and is mounted pointwise on a structural member of a motor vehicle, with the connection between the structural member and the bolt-on part consisting of pin-shaped fastening devices on one of the two parts to be connected and recesses in the other of the two parts, is intended to dissipate as much deformation energy as possible by coming loose from the structural member under the influence of an impact in the lengthwise direction of the bolt-on part. For this purpose, at least one of the recesses in each case is closed circumferentially and is located at the end furthest away in the direction of action from the point where the impact energy is applied. The other recesses are open circumferentially and are in the form of grooves inclined at less than .alpha.=90.degree. to the acting direction of the impact energy in such fashion that the bolt-on part that deforms under the impact energy can come loose from the structural member without deformation of the structural member, at the recesses that are formed as grooves.

Bolt-on part, especially a bumper of a motor vehicle

A fastening of a strip to a rearwardly accessible carrier part has arranged opposite one another on the longitudinal edges of the strip, pairs of holding tongues which are inserted through long holes arranged in the carrier part. At their free ends, the holding tongues are provided on the sides facing one another with respective hooks which themselves have a clamping face extending approximately parallel to the rear side of the carrier part. Arranged on the rear side of the carrier part for each pair of holding tongues is a double-winged rotary bolt which is pivotable about an axis of rotation perpendicular to the rear side and arranged between the respective mutually opposite pair of long holes. To lock the strip, the wings are pivoted inwards with their end regions between the rear side of the carrier part and the clamping faces of the hooks on the holding tongues, so as bear tautly against the clamping faces.

Fastening of a strip to a rearwardly accessible carrier part

A device is disclosed for holding a decorative cover on a bumper. Known holding devices provide either attachment of the decorative cover to the bumper in a manner fixed by means of a fastening clip or screw fastenings which are passed through an elongate hole in the bumper, the intention of this being that the elastic bumper should be movable relative to the decorative cover. The new device for holding a decorative cover includes a holding clip and a fixing pin, the decorative cover merely requiring to be pushed on rather than attaching by screw threads. The elongate hole is made in the holding clip. The pin is inserted with an accurate fit into the bumper and can be moved along the elongate hole relative to the holding clip and the decorative cover.

A motor vehicle bumper has a crossmember fixed to the body and an impact-confronting collision part. Non-regenerable deformation members are arranged between the collision part and the crossmember, at least in the region of support points, and the impact-confronting collision part is secured to the crossmember via fastening bolts passing through the deformation members. During a deformation of the non-regenerable deformation members, the collision part is displaceable in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle in order to increase the deformation capacity, while preserving the indicator effect of the support points. The collision part is designed as a trim part encasing, at least in the region of the support points, a core consisting of elastically deformable foam. With the exception of the region of the support points, the bumper has a gap on the energy-absorber side. Each fastening bolt is surrounded by a spacer sleeve supported, at one end, on the head underside if the sleeve and, at the other end, on the crossmember fixed to the body.

Motor vehicle bumper

A bumper for a motor vehicle with a support part which, supports and separates an impact-near and an impact-remote layer of energy-absorbing form. The supporting part is held by resilient holders on a support fixed to the vehicle. A panelling covers the impact-near layer towards the front and is fixed to the support part. A skirt adjoins toward the bottom. In order to increase the absorbency and retain a pedestrain-protective configuration, the support part is designed as a stiff load distributing support and the panelling is fastened to it and merges integrally with the skirt.

Bumper for a motor vehicle

A bumper arrangement for a motor vehicle, especially an automobile, with the bumper arrangement including a bending-resistant support mounted on a part integrally secured with the motor vehicle. A front of the support accommodates a preferably replacable energy absorber composed of at least one component. The energy absorber itself is partially surrounded by a shell made of a viscoelastic material. The shell is connected to a covering part of viscoelastic material having a downwardly projecting skirt segment and an upwardly extending segment which is extended in a direction toward adjoining body portions of the motor vehicle. A front side of the support is made essentially flat and is adapted to receive a middle segment of the covering part. For attachment of the shell to the covering part locally discontinuous guide grooves are provided in an area of the upper segment and skirt segment, the guide grooves being adapted to lockingly accommodate the appropriate projections or ends of the shell.
