New nickel alloys are described which are useful for eyeglass frames, which alloys in addition to good resistance to corrosion also have good workability properties. They contain 5 to 20 percent copper and 5 to 30 percent zinc. Optionally, they can also be alloyed in small amounts other metals such as manganese, silicon, beryllium, cobalt, aluminum, niobium, tantalum, or titanium.

Low voltage current contacts should have good tarnish resistance and resistance to wear at the smallest possible gold content. Such materials consist of 330 to 50 wt. % palladium, 18 to 48 wt. % silver, 19 to 33 wt. % gold, 0.01 to 1 wt. % iridium, osmium, or a mixture of iridium and osmium and either 0.5 to 5 wt. % lead or a mixture of 0.5 to 3 wt. % lead and 0.1 to 3 wt. % tin.

Material for low voltage current contacts

There is described a new material for jewelry and commodities which has a relatively low density and also is low carat but resistant to oxidation and corrosion. It consists of a noble metal or alloy and 1 to 70 volume % glass, whereby as glass there is used a glass frit having a transformation temperature of 300.degree. to 500.degree. C. and a softening interval of over 80.degree. C. There is also described a process for its production.
