Techniques related to generating a virtual view from multi-view images for presentation to a viewer are discussed. Such techniques include determining, based on a viewer position relative to a display region, first and second crop positions of planar image and cropping the planar image to a cropped planar image to fill the display region using the first and second crop positions such that the first and second crop positions define an asymmetric frustum between the cropped planar image and a virtual window corresponding to the display region.

Immersive viewing using a planar array of cameras

Improved techniques for media item sharing are described. In one embodiment, for example, an apparatus may comprise a classification module to assign a media item to a content category, a correlation module to determine context information for the media item, and an estimation module to determine a set of relevance values for a set of contacts based at least in part on a sharing history and to generate a set of suggested recipients for the media item based at least in part on the set of relevance values and the set of contacts. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Media sharing techniques

Technologies are presented that provide collaborative context-based user tracking and communications. A method of tracking communication options may include receiving, from one or more user devices of a user, user proximity information that indicates whether the user is in proximity of the one or more user devices; receiving, from the user devices, tracking loss warnings that indicate that loss of capabilities to track the user by respective user devices may be imminent; receiving, from the user devices, secondary device proximity information that indicates whether the user device is in proximity of one or more secondary devices; and receiving, from the secondary devices, additional user proximity information that indicates whether the user is in proximity of the one or more secondary devices. The method may further include dynamically determining from the received information which of the user devices and secondary devices are able to provide communications to the user.

Context-aware collaborative user tracking

Systems and methods of conducting collaborative image capture may provide for transferring sensor data from a plurality of image capture devices to a designated master device, which may in turn determine rough alignment recommendations for the image capture devices. The image capture devices may receive the alignment recommendations and output them to a preview display for manual alignment and/or to an automated adjustment system for automated alignment. Additionally, the image capture devices may transfer preview image data to the master device, wherein fine alignment recommendations may be made based on the preview image data.

Multi-device alignment for collaborative media capture

Systems and methods of conducting collaborative sessions between mobile devices may provide for determining a time delay associated with a set of participating mobile devices, and determining a command execution time based at least in part on a clock of a managing device and the time delay. One or more control messages may be transmitted to the participating mobile devices, wherein the control messages include the command and the command execution time. Upon receiving a control message, each participating mobile device may determine a local execution time based at least in part on the command execution time and an offset of the clock of the managing device relative to a local clock. Execution of the command can therefore be coordinated across the set of participating mobile devices.

Collaborative image control

In accordance with some embodiments, wireless devices may automatically form ad hoc networks to enable more efficient sharing of media between the devices and in some cases more efficient facial recognition of captured media. In some embodiments, automatic story development may be implemented at the local level without involving backend servers.

Automatic media distribution

Apparatuses for peer-to-peer network setup are presented. In one embodiment, an apparatus comprises a wireless processing unit to communicate with a master device. The wireless processing unit is operable to receive encoded data in a two-dimensional (2D) barcode. The encoded data comprise at least user information associated with the master device including a user identifier, a device identifier, or both. The encoded data further comprise network information including a network identifier, a password, and a profile lifetime value. In one embodiment, the apparatus further comprises a display unit to display at least part of the user information and the network information to a user. The wireless processing unit is operable to initiate a peer-to-peer network setup with the master device based at least on a response from the user.

Secure peer-to-peer network setup

Systems and methods of synchronizing devices may include detecting a movement of a first mobile device and conducting a time synchronization procedure with respect to a second mobile device in response to the movement of the two mobile devices. The time synchronization can be conducted without network infrastructure support at the mobile devices.

Motion initiated time synchronization

Embodiments of apparatus, packages, computer-implemented methods, systems, devices, and computer-readable media (transitory and non-transitory) are described herein for enabling a first mobile device to control a second mobile device, to enable media content sensed from a perspective of the second mobile device to be consumed using the first mobile device or captured by the second mobile device under control of the first mobile device. In various embodiments, control may include provision of one or more commands to the second mobile device using at least a persistent communication link between the first and second mobile devices. In various embodiments, control may further include receipt of at least a view of media content currently sensed by the second mobile device using a stateless communication protocol. In various embodiments, the first mobile device may control more than one remote mobile devices.

Consumption and capture of media content sensed from remote perspectives

A mechanism is described for facilitating real-time customization of messages to be transmitted between computing systems according to one embodiment of the invention. A method of embodiments of the invention includes receiving a notification relating to call made to a first computing device from a second computing device. The call may remain unanswered. The method may further include accessing a first data relating to a current status of the first computing device, analyzing the first data, and customizing, in real-time, a response based on the analyzed first data. The method may further include transmitting the customized response to the second computing device, in response to the unanswered call.

Mechanism for facilitating dynamic real-time customization of messaging for computing systems

In certain embodiments of the invention, a plurality of images of one or more subjects may be captured using different imaging techniques, such as different modalities of scanning probe microscopy. Parameters may be estimated from the plurality of images, using one or more models of known molecular structures to provide a model-based analysis. The estimated parameters may be fused, with further input from physical models of known molecular structures. The fused parameters may be used to characterize the subjects. Such characterization may include the detection and/or identification of specific molecular structures, such as proteins, peptides and/or nucleic acids of known sequence and/or structure. In some embodiments of the invention the structural characterizations may be used to identify previously unknown properties of a subject molecule.

Model-based fusion of scanning probe microscopic images for detection and identification of molecular structures

In some embodiments, a method of processing a video sequence may include receiving an input video sequence having an input video sequence resolution, aligning images from the input video sequence, reducing noise in the aligned images, and producing an output video sequence from the reduced noise images, wherein the output video sequence has the same resolution as the input video sequence resolution. Other embodiments are disclosed and claimed.

Method and apparatus for noise reduction in video

Embodiments of the invention describe processing a first image data and 3D point cloud data to extract a first planar segment from the 3D point cloud data. This first planar segment is associated with an object included in the first image data. A second image data is received, the second image data including the object captured in the first image data. A second planar segment related to the object is generated, where the second planar segment is geometrically consistent with the object as captured in the second image data. This planar segment is generated based, at least in part, on the second image data, the first image data and the first planar segment. Embodiments of the invention may further augment the second image data with content associated with the object. This augmented image may be displayed such that the content is displayed geometrically consistent with the second planar segment.

Augmenting image data based on related 3D point cloud data
