A speed adjustment mechanism for a power tool is disclosed. The mechanism includes a support, a first toothed gear for rotation by means of an adjustment dial, and a second toothed gear rotatable by means of the first toothed gear and connected to a potentiometer which is connected to a speed control circuit. Limited movement of the first and second toothed gears relative to each other is possible to reduce transmission of impacts from the adjustment dial to the speed control circuit.

A power cutter comprising: a housing; an enginemounted within the housing; a support armmounted on the housing and which projects forward of the housing; a blade mounting mechanismrotatably mounted on the end of the support arm and which is capable of being rotationally driven by the enginewhen the engine is running; a liquid fuel aeration mechanismto generate aerated fuel for the engine; an air intakefor the provision of air for the liquid fuel aeration device; an air filtration mechanismto filter the air drawn in from the air intake for the liquid fuel aeration mechanism; a fuel tankfor providing fuel to the liquid fuel aeration mechanism; and an exhaustthrough which the exhaust gases generated by the operation of the engine are expelled; wherein the air filtration mechanism comprises an air filtercomprising a plurality of pleats which hang substantially vertically downwardly when the power cutter is in its standard orientation.

An accessory system, such as a dust collection system () of a hand held power tool, such as a drilling and/or hammering tool comprising, the tool, an accessory unit () comprising a separate motor for powering the unit and releasably mountable on the tool, and a battery pack (). When the accessory unit is not required, the battery pack can be mounted directly on the tool for powering to tool and when the accessory unit is required the battery pack can be mounted on the accessory unit for powering the accessory unit and, when the accessory unit is mounted on the tool, for powering the tool via the accessory unit.
