A high-speed shear for transversely cutting rolled strip with knife carriers which can be driven for rotation and are arranged in pairs opposite each other. The knife carriers are supported on shafts of gear wheels arranged at a fixed axial spacing in pairs opposite each other in a shear cassette. The shear cassette is mounted within an outer frame and the shear cassette is provided with a lifting device for raising or lowering the shear cassette within the outer frame. In a method for operating the shear, the two knife carriers are moved into a horizontal position for allowing the strip end to enter or travel through, and the shear cassette is moved within the outer frame into a raised transfer position.

Method of operating a high-speed shear

A shears device including a rolling table, a rail-guided drive carriage coupled with the rolling table, a U-shaped frame mounted on the drive carriage, and a drive apparatus arranged on the drive carriage for driving the shears. The frame has a first side adjacent the drive apparatus and a second side opposite the first side on which holding elements for the shears are provided. At least one of the holding elements on the second side of an upper of the horizontal arms includes a pressure plate. A drive is provided for moving the drive carriage transverse to the transport line. A clamping element is arranged at the second side of the frame and has congruent gliding plates that overlap the pressure plate. The clamping element together with the gliding plates is movable along a horizontal path across the pressure plate to couple the clamping element and the holding element.

A method of operating a flying shear for cutting a rolled strip, which includes at least one drum provided with a blade, includes synchronizing a peripheral speed of the blade with a feed rate of the rolled strip, and cutting the rolled strip by effecting a partial penetration of the blade in the rolled strip to produce a weakened location of the rolled strip, and by tearing the rolled strip at the weakened location by a tensile force.

A high-speed shear for cutting a rolled strip to a length and including first upper and second lower blade drums carrying, respectively first and second blades and rotationally connected with each other, drive elements located in front of and behind the first and second drums for advancing the rolled strip, under longitudinal tensioning, through a blade gap between the first and second drums, and support rollers supporting the tensioned strip and providing for lifting of the strip before passing of the second blade and for lowering the strip before passing of the first blade through the blade gap.

High-speed shear for transverse cutting of a rolled strip

A high-speed shear with a knife, particularly a chisel-type knife with a knife edge, arranged on at least one of two oppositely arranged drums, wherein the knife can be accelerated to the feeding speed of the rolled strip and the drums can be adjusted relative to each other for carrying out a cut. At least one drive unit provided for the drums serves to accelerate the drums to the speed of the rolled strip to be cut and at least one of the drums may be provided with a separately controllable adjusting device. The chisel-type knife of the knife drum is mounted so as to protrude from the cutting circle towards the anvil or the surface portion of the second drum acting as an anvil and to mount the chisel-type knife of the knife drum so as to be resiliently supported against a predetermined restoring force.

High-speed shear for transversely cutting rolled strip

A high-speed shear for transversely cutting a rolled ship having a small thickness and including at least one blade provided on one of two oppositely located drums, and a controllable device for displacing the two drums between a cutting position, in which the strip is cut, and an open run-through position in which the strip can be freely advanced between the two drums, with the two drums being synchronized in their open cutting position by respective tooth elements provided on the two drums and engaging each other, and with the tooth elements being so formed that they insure synchronization in the open position of the drums when they engaged each other with, a large tooth backlash and engaged each other substantially backlash-free in the cutting position of the drums.

High-speed shear for transverse cutting of a thin rolled strip

A descaling device for hydromechanically descaling metal strip has a descaling spray arrangement with first and second spray nozzles arranged adjacent to one another in first and second spray nozzle rows transverse to the transport direction with several first and second spray nozzle rows successively arranged in the transport direction above a top side and underneath a bottom side of the metal strip. The first and second spray nozzles spray a high pressure water jet onto the top and bottom sides. First catch troughs are correlated with the first spray nozzles and catch water of the high pressure water jets of the first spray nozzles. The first spray nozzle rows together with the first catch troughs are pivotable about a pivot axis and vertically adjustable relative to the top side by a signal from a measuring device. The first catch troughs are pivotable independently Of the first water spray nozzles counter to the transport direction about a pivot point and vertically adjustable and automatically yielding relative to the top side. The first spray nozzle rows are arranged in first spray beams, wherein each spray beams has a lever and is freely pivotable about the pivot point of the first catch troughs in order to be vertically adjustable and automatically yielding relative to the top side.

Descaling device for a continuous cast metal strip

A descaling device for slabs or strips in hot rolling mills includes nozzles fed by a pressurized water piston pump for directing water jets against the slab or strip for removing scale adhering to the surface of the slab or strip. At least one additional pressurized water piston pump is provided, wherein the piston pumps are connected in parallel and the pumps can be switched on and off separately. A second row of nozzles may be arranged in front of the nozzles at a distance which ensures that the water jets do not influence each other. The water pressure of the water supplied to the second row of nozzles is preferably lower than the water pressure supplied to the first row of nozzles.

Descaling device and method

An upsetting press for width reduction of rolled stock, in particular slab width reduction in hot-rolled wide strip mills, includes supports (2) for pressing dies (1) located along opposite slab edges. The pressing dies (1) are detachably connected to the supports (2) by at least one elongated prestressable tie rod (3) rotatably mounted in each support (2). The tie rod (3) has a hammer shaped tie rod head (5) which engages in a recess (6) in the pressing die (1). The recess (6) is open on one surface for receiving the tie rod (3) so that the head abuts against and holds the pressing die against the support (2).
