An audio system for an ear mountable playback device includes a speaker, an error microphone, which senses sound being output from the speaker, and a sound control processor. The processor is configured for controlling and/or monitoring a playback of a detection signal or a filtered version of the detection signal via the speaker, recording an error signal from the error microphone, and determining whether the playback device is in a first state, where the playback device is worn by a user, or in a second state, where the playback device is not worn by a user, based on processing of the error signal.

Audio system and signal processing method for an ear mountable playback device

A host side is adapted to be connected to a client side by means of a clock wire, a selection wire, a first data wire and a second data wire. The host side is configured to transmit a digital selection signal over the selection wire to the client side, the selection signal determining either an audio transmission mode or a client communication mode. Further, the host side is configured to transmit digital audio data of a first channel and a second channel over the first and the second data wire to the client side in the audio transmission mode, and to perform client communication over the first and the second data wire in the client communication mode.

A method for transmission path noise control using an audio headset and a sending device comprises generating microphone signals by a first and a second microphone of the headset based on detected sound including desired audio information and noise. An encoded signal is generated on a first line of a data cable by means of the headset by encoding input signals depending on the microphone signals. The method comprises transmitting the encoded signal from the headset to the sending device via the first, reconstructing the input signals by decoding the encoded signal by the sending device, generating by the sending device a clean signal by applying a first noise control algorithm to the reconstructed first and second input signal and sending a signal depending on the clean signal to a communication network.

A noise-cancellation system for a headphone (HP) that comprises a speaker () for emitting a speaker signal, a microphone () for receiving a microphone signal and a proximity sensor () for a receiving a proximity signal comprising quantitative information on the distance of the an object (OBJ) from the proximity sensor () has a signal processing device (). The signal processing device () is designed to generate a compensation signal based on the microphone signal, wherein the generation of the compensation signal comprises filtering with an adjustable filter characteristic. The compensation signal is combined with an audio signal in order to generate the speaker signal. The filter characteristic is adapted based on the distance.

Noise-cancellation system and method for noise cancellation

A host interface circuit operates in a power mode when connected to an accessory device compatible with a power supply via a first line of a data cable. During power mode, the host interface circuit couples a power regulator to the first line. The host interface circuit operates in a legacy mode when connected to an accessory device not compatible with such a power supply and couples the legacy terminal to the first line during legacy mode. An accessory interface circuit configured to operate in a power mode when connected to a host device capable of a power supply via a first line couples a power input of an active device to the first line and a data input of the active device to a second line during power mode.

Interface circuits and communication system for coupling a host device to an accessory device and method for communication between such devices

A detection circuit () comprises a first and a second contact terminal (P, P) for connecting a microphone (HM) with a defined polarity. Furthermore, a first and a second switch (S, S) are provided and respectively connect the first and the second contact terminal (P, P) to a reference potential terminal (GND). A supply terminal (SUP) for supplying an input signal is either connected to the first contact terminal (P) or to the second contact terminal (P) via a third switch (S). A measuring device (MS) for acquiring a measurement signal in response to the supplied input signal is coupled to a connection between the supply terminal (SUP) and the third switch (S). An evaluation device is designed for setting a first switching configuration, in which the first switch (S) is in an open state, the first contact terminal (P) is connected to the supply terminal (SUP) via the third switch (S), and the second contact terminal (P) is connected to the reference potential terminal (GND) via the second switch (S), in a test phase. The evaluation device (CTRL) is furthermore designed for comparing the measurement signal to a threshold value (I, U) in the test phase and for determining whether the polarity of a connected microphone (HM) is suitable for the first switching configuration based on this comparison.

Detection circuit and detection method

We disclose a control circuit for active noise control, ANC, coupled to a speaker generating a speaker signal based on an amplified audio signal and to an ANC microphone generating a disturbed audio signal based on ambient noise and the speaker signal. The control circuit has a first mixer generating an intermediate audio signal by superposing an audio signal and a first compensation signal, a first amplifier generating the amplified audio signal based on the intermediate audio signal and a compensation unit generating a second compensation signal based on the audio signal. A tuning unit generates a compensated audio signal based on the disturbed audio signal and the second compensation signal. An ANC filter coupled to the tuning unit generates the first compensation signal by applying filter operations to the compensated audio signal.
