A cheek plate for a vane pump is provided which is made of an aluminum alloy. The cheek plate has a first or casing face which faces towards the casing of the pump when installed in the pump. A second or rotor face of the cheek plate faces the rotor when the cheek plate is installed in the pump. The cheek plate further includes a first radially outwardly located pressure control passage configuration, a second pressure control passage configuration located radially inwardly with respect to the first pressure control passage configuration. A first radially outwardly suction control passage configuration located diametrically opposite to the first pressure control passage configuration and a second suction control passage configuration located radially inwardly with respect to the first suction control passage configuration. The first and second pressure control passage configurations and the first and second suction control passage configurations extend between the casing face and the rotor face. At least the radially outwardly located pressure passage configuration includes at the rotor side a recess with connecting openings extending to the oppositely located casing face.

In general terms the invention provides for a direct actuated pressure regulated vane-type pump having a adjustment piston which is under the influence of the pump pressure. The adjustment piston is coupled to said cam ring by means of a flexible or articulate connection means, or else the adjustment piston itself is of a flexible or articulate design.

In a hydrostatic gear machine of the type having an internally toothed outer gear and an externally toothed inner gear wherein the gears have different numbers of teeth, the gears being meshed with the outer gear surrounding gear, particularly advantageous relationships between the numbers of teeth and the shapes of the tooth flanks are provided to permit economic manufacture of the machine for use as a motor or pump.

The radial pump preferably for use in connection with a hydraulic clamping device includes a plurality of pumping elements enclosed in a housing and cooperating with a corresponding pluraity of discharge valves. A multiway control valve controls the delivery of pressure fluid to a load port in such a manner that during the actuation of the load the outlet of all discharge valves are united to deliver the entire flow of pressure fluid into the load port, whereas when the load is maintained under a constant pressure, only one pumping element delivers discharged fluid via a single discharge valve into the load port and the remaining pumping elements deliver their output into the reservoir.
