An apparatus for monitoring letter closing devices in mail handling machines in mail handling lines includes transport rollers receiving envelopes. A holding-down device is downstream of the transport rollers in envelope transport direction. A plow plate is downstream of the holding-down device. A deflector is disposed between the holding-down defice and the plow plate. A closing device is downstream of the plow plate. A relection light gate is disposed underneath the plow plate. The plow plate has a reflecting surface forming part of the reflection light gate.

Apparatus for monitoring letter closing devices

An automatic feed device for postal franking machines includes a feed tray, a device for transporting mail on the feed tray and a drive of the transporting device. A separating head in the form of a structural unit includes brake levers separating mail and pressure rollers, holding-down devices and a manual actuating lever transporting mail. Guide shafts support the separating head during displacement of the separating head into a housing from an operating position outside the housing. A detent shaft and a slide lock the separating head in the operating position. A microswitch coupled with the slide controls the drive of the transporting device.

Separating head

A method for setting type wheels of a date printer in electronically-controlled postage machines, includes print rollers, gear racks connected to the print rollers and the type wheels, stepping motors connected to the gear racks for activating the gear racks for setting selected print rollers and for setting the type wheels for printing postage values, an electronic logic circuit connected to the stepping motors for storing a date, a decimal keyboard connected to the electronic logic circuit for setting postage values and entering a date into the electronic logic circuit, and a function key connected to the electronic logic circuit, which comprises setting a date by using the decimal keyboard in conjunction with the function key, performing a comparison with the electronic logic circuit of a date entered into the electronic logic circuit by the decimal keyboard and a date stored in the electronic logic circuit, and resetting the type wheels in case of a deviation between the entered and stored dates, or using a number and/or code input from the decimal keyboard for initiating the comparison and the resetting of the type wheels, respectively, instead of a function key.

Movable, hinged and removable well sides for letter feeding and letter sealing machines, including a table having first guide slots formed therein, an angular well side having a leg with two ends and a second guide slot formed in vicinity of an end of the leg, a stop forming another well side and being guidable at least partially in the second slot at a right angle to the leg, two angled-off webs being integral with an end of the leg opposite the second guide slot, projections being integral with the webs and guidable in the first guide slots, and a screw element being attached to the leg and having a pin and a washer for guiding and locking the angular well side and the stop on the table, the table having a hole formed therein along one of the first guide slots through which the washer is liftable for folding down the angular well side and the stop and through which the web is liftable for removing the angular well side and the stop.
