System and methods of presenting multiple contexts, while presenting digital content, such as a digital video. A user interface (UI) comprising a media player portion, and a context portion is provided on a screen of a mobile device. The digital content is presented in the media player portion of the UI. The digital video corresponds to a first plurality of context items, wherein a first context item of the first plurality of context items is associated with a first list of videos, a second context item of the first plurality of context items is associated with a second list of videos, the first list of videos includes a first plurality of additional videos, and the second list of videos includes a second plurality of additional videos. The digital video is played in the media player portion while at least the first context item and the second context item are presented in the context portion of the UI, wherein selecting the first context item causes presentation of at least a subset of the first list of videos, and wherein selecting the second context item causes presentation of at least a subset of the second list of videos.

Mobile user interface for contextual browsing while playing digital content

System and methods of presenting multiple contexts, while presenting digital content, such as a digital video. A user interface (UI) with multiple portions is provided to a user. The digital content is played in a media player portion of the UI. The digital video is related to a first plurality of context item groups, a first context item group of the first plurality of context item groups is associated with a first list of context items, and a first context item from the first list of context items is related to a second plurality of context item groups. A hierarchy of contexts accessible during a presentation of the digital video is presented in a context portion of the user interface. The hierarchy of contexts includes a first context corresponding to the first plurality of context item groups related to the digital video, and a second context corresponding to the second plurality of context item groups related to the first context item from the first list of context items.

System and methods of presenting multiple contexts, while continuing playback of digital content, such as a digital video, are presented. A user interface (UI) with multiple portions is provided to a user. The digital content is played in the first portion of the UI. The second portion of the UI includes a list of context items associated with the digital content. A user selection of a context item is received and a next context associated with the selected context item is displayed in a next portion of the UI, while playback of the digital content continues.

Promotional content provided by content providers is distributed to mobile devices to be displayed with designated videos on mobile devices. The promotional content is received from a content provider, e.g., via an API and associated with a video, group of videos or channel available from a video hosting server. The promotional content meets certain specifications set by the video hosting server. A mobile device requests promotional content for a selected video and the video hosting server provides any available promotional content to the mobile device. The promotional content is displayed with the selected video as designated by the content provider. Activation of the promotional content in some embodiments results in an action being invoked on the mobile device, such as loading of a uniform resource identifier. In some cases, the promotional content is cached by the mobile device for later use.
