In one non-limiting, exemplary embodiment, a method includes: receiving radio resource control signaling with a user equipment, wherein the radio resource control signaling is indicative of at least one frequency sub-band to be measured by the user equipment for a particular cell in a manner transparent to at least one of an interference control scheme and a handover scheme implemented for the cell; performing at least one measurement of the at least one frequency sub-band; and reporting information descriptive of the at least one measurement.

Apparatus and method for handing over, at a time instance, a first low power radio frequency transceiver participating in a first network of low power radio frequency transceivers using first network parameter(s) and controlled by a first master transceiver from the first network to a second network of low power radio frequency transceivers using second network parameter(s) and controlled by a second master transceiver. An indication of the time instance is sent to the first low power radio frequency transceiver. An indication of the time instance is also sent to the second master transceiver. An indication of the second network parameter(s) is sent to the first low power radio frequency transceiver. The first transceiver switches from using the first network parameter(s) to using the second network parameter(s) at time the time instance. The second master transceiver polls the first transceiver at the time instance using the second network parameters.

Method and apparatus for performing handover in a bluetooth radiocommunication system

A system and method for controlling base stations for multimedia broadcast communications. In one embodiment, a base station includes a reporting subsystem configured to broadcast at least one of a counting report request and a channel quality indictor report request to user equipment in a service area thereof. The reporting subsystem is also configured to process at least one of a counting report and a channel quality indicator report received from the user equipment and provide an activity status report therefrom. The base station also includes a dynamic single frequency network subsystem configured to determine to provide multimedia broadcast and multicast services in the service area thereof as a function of an activity status report from another base station.

Simple distributed coordination among cells to achieve efficient dynamic single-frequency network (SFN) operation

An apparatus, a base station and user equipment are provided. The apparatus is configured to code a first given number of symbols from the beginning of a transmission period and/or a second given number of symbols from the end of the transmission period with a stronger error correcting code than the rest of the symbols in the transmission period.

Coding a signal

A UE performs pilot measurements over a frequency sub-band of serving cell and adjacent cells based on pilot symbols for used in handover. UE uses channel quality measurement result to adjust frequency sub-band and periodicity of pilot measurement. In interference coordination scheme, UE is classified into cell edge or cell center UE based on channel quality measurement result. For downlink data reception, UE in cell edge is allocated cell edge frequency sub-band and UE in cell center is allocated with cell center frequency sub-band. If UE is in cell edge of the serving cell, UE also performs pilot measurement over cell edge frequency sub-band. If UE is in cell center, UE also performs pilot measurement over cell center frequency sub-band of the serving cell. When UE is located in cell edge, it performs measurement at a higher rate than when it is located in cell center.

Method and apparatus for handover measurement

Methods and devices are shown for improving an existing route between a first node and a second node in a first ad-hoc network that includes a plurality of nodes, the method and devices selecting based on a predetermined performance criterion or criteria one of a plurality of candidate routes between the first node and the second node, wherein each candidate route includes at least one inter-node link that is not included within the first ad-hoc network and at least one candidate route including multiple inter-node links; initializing, via the existing route, the use of the inter-node links of the selected candidate route; and switching from using the existing route to using the candidate route.

In one non-limiting, exemplary embodiment, a method includes: receiving information, by a user equipment, from a first network element of a plurality of network elements, wherein the information is descriptive of a power reuse pattern utilized by the plurality of network elements; identifying, using the received information, at least one frequency sub-band of a plurality of frequency sub-bands, wherein each network element of the plurality of network elements transmits at least one measurement signal in a channel on a frequency sub-band of the plurality of frequency sub-bands, wherein the measurement signals of the plurality of network elements are transmitted with different transmission powers, wherein the identified at least one frequency sub-band corresponds to a second network element of the plurality of network elements; and performing at least one power measurement of the identified at least one frequency sub-band.
