Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, determining a capability of a mobile device, collecting a mobile station measurement, applying a rule according to the capability and measurement to obtain a radio access network (RAN) recommendation that identifies one of a first or second RANs as a preferred RAN, wherein a service is provided to the device via the preferred RAN. The first RAN comprises a first base station that supports a first exchange of user data and corresponding control signaling to facilitate access to a first set of services. The second RAN comprises a second base station adapted to support a second exchange of user data and a third base station adapted to support a corresponding exchange of control signaling to facilitate access to a second set of services. The second RAN is unable to facilitate access to the first set of services. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Dynamic selection of radio access network (RAN) among available RAN architectural alternatives

A flexible service-based architecture (SBA) for next generation communication networks is described. In an embodiment, a method performed by a system comprising a processor comprises receiving a service request for provision of a data communication service to a communication device via a communication network comprising a plurality of different network resources defined by resource components and sub-components of the resource components. In response to receiving the service request, accessing network resource abstraction information that identifies the resource components, and the sub-components respectively associated with the resource components, and selecting a subset of the different network resources for the provision of the data communication service to the communication device based a service criterion associated with the data communication service. The method further comprises facilitating, by the system, the provision of the data communication service to the communication device via the communication network using the subset of the different network resources.

Flexible service based architecture for advanced communication networks

The described technology is generally directed towards a frequency-aware cellular communication network. A mobile device, or a radio access network (RAN) device at a base station in communication with the mobile device, can proactively notify a core network device regarding changes of a frequency band used for communications between the mobile device and the base station. The core network can use received notifications to adjust service provided to the mobile device.

Aspects of the subject disclosure include, for example, identifying a primary serving cell and a secondary serving cell, wherein the primary serving cell facilitates one of attachment, re-attachment or mobility, or any combination thereof, of a mobile device in association with coordination of a wireless service between the primary serving cell, the secondary serving cell and the mobile device. A latency value associated with a message exchange is determined between the primary and secondary serving cells via a messaging interface, and compared to latency requirements, which correspond to a group of mobile service features. A mobile service feature of the group is associated with the wireless service based on the comparison. The wireless service includes a coordinated exchange of wireless signals between the primary serving cell and the mobile device and between the secondary serving cell and the mobile device based on the mobile service feature. System and method for dynamic feature selection based on latency discovery

Aspects of the subject matter described herein are directed towards indicating to a communications network the bandwidth capability data of a user equipment (mobile) device. This allows distinguishing between legacy user equipment that does not support larger bandwidths from newer user equipment that does. A network can thus limit the bandwidth via one of its supported bandwidth parts to a user equipment's bandwidth capability data, such as the maximum supported static bandwidth part of the legacy user equipment. At the same time, larger bandwidths can be assigned to user equipment devices capable of supporting larger bandwidths. Information elements can be used to communicate the bandwidth data from the user equipment to the network, e.g., during initial communications or as requested by the network. Once obtained, the bandwidth data of a user equipment device can be maintained by the network and forwarded to a target cells as part of cell handovers.

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, obtaining first positional information comprising a location of a non-stationary entity mobile within an environment, the first positional information obtained from a service provider monitoring a positional status of the non-stationary entity within the environment. A path of the non-stationary entity is predicted according to the first positional information. A delivery device mobile within the environment is directed according to the predicted path to deliver an item to the non-stationary entity. Second positional information is obtained, identifying a location of the delivery device within the environment. A separation distance is calculated between the location of the non-stationary entity and the location of the delivery device within the environment and a delivery opportunity is detected based upon the separation distance not exceeding a threshold distance. Speed and service aware frequency band selection processes for mobility networks are described. In one embodiment, a system can comprising a processor and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, facilitate performance of operations. The operations comprise selecting a frequency band for performance of data communication between a communication device (CD) and network equipment of a communication network based on a speed of the CD, and instructing the CD to employ the frequency band for the data communication based on the selecting. In various embodiments, the selecting is responsive to the speed exceeding a threshold speed indicating the CD moving a high speed and the selected frequency band comprises a low frequency band tailored for data communication at the high speed. The frequency band selection can also account for other contextual criteria associated with the CD, including services/applications used, location, and route/trajectory of the device.

Connectionless mobility management techniques across different wireless technologies are provided. In an embodiment, a method comprises obtaining, by a controller device that comprises a processor and that is part of a communication network employing a relativistic routing protocol (RRP), condition information regarding operating conditions associated with different access point devices, wherein the communication network comprises router agent devices respectively connected to the different access point devices that communicatively couple the different access point devices to a server device via respective communication links to a router device. The method further comprises determining, by the controller device based on the operating condition information, an assignment of the different access point devices to mobile devices for usage as serving nodes for the mobile devices, and controlling, by the controller device, latency settings of the respective communication links for the mobile devices based on the assignment.

Connectionless mobility management for hybrid networks using relativistic routing protocol

The disclosed technology is directed towards switching the primary cell in a carrier aggregation scenario to improve performance. Measurement data of a mobile device (user equipment) is evaluated with respect to one or more various criteria such as cell carrier bandwidth, cell carrier load, cell-related capability and other carrier data (e.g., dynamic spectrum sharing versus clean, time division duplex or frequency division duplex), and others. Device conditions such as overheating can be considered as well. The evaluation results in a ranking of primary cell candidates. If a more optimal primary cell (candidate) is available, the primary cell in the carrier aggregation combination is switched to the candidate that is ranked the highest. Switching can be relatively very fast, such as based on already existing layer-1 (L1) and/or layer-2 (L2) measurement data. Layer-3 (L3) measurement data also can be obtained on demand, for example, to use in the evaluation.

Apparatuses and methods for selectively scanning resources of a communication network and system

Described is intelligent security based on the detection of the presence of mobile devices within a defined region, determined via accurate mobile device location sensing, e.g., within on the order of one meter. Upon detection of the presence of a mobile device within a defined region via mobile device millimeter wave-based position sensing, an identity associated with the mobile device is obtained. If the identity associated with the mobile device is not a trusted identity, action can be taken based on the presence of the identity within the defined region. The intelligent security can be implemented within an application program of a registered user's mobile device and/or a security system, such as a commercially available security system with alarm monitoring services. Various criteria can determine the action(s) to take, including by which region (if more than one), time of day, identity trust level, duration of presence, and the like.
