Embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a communication node for handling packets in a communication network, which communication network is an ICN network. The communication node adds a time stamp to a packet, which packet is requesting content of a service or comprises at least a part of the content of the service and is of a format associated with the ICN network, and which time stamp is added into an ICN header of the packet. Furthermore, the communication node transmits the packet with the added time stamp towards another communication node.

Communication nodes and methods performed therein for handling packets in an information centric network

A method performed in a network node for handling an Internet Protocol, IP, packet. The IP packet originates from a source node and addresses to a destination node in an IP communication network. Upon receipt of the IP packet, the network node decapsulates the IP packet to obtain, from a network layer header of the IP packet, an indication of a point in time to drop the IP packet. The point in time to drop the IP packet is based on a first maximum delay of the IP packet between the source node and the destination node. The first maximum delay was obtained from an application software running on the source node. The network node determines whether or not to drop the IP packet based on the indication, using a clock of the network node synchronized with a clock of the source node.

Controlling communications between visible light communication access points and user equipments

A first network node, a client device and methods therein, for enabling acquisition and delivery of a resource to the client device in a communications network. When receiving from the client device a meta interest request indicating an interest for a wanted resource, the first network node extracts from the meta interest request one or more filter parameters related to desirable characteristics of the wanted resource. The first network node then obtains identifiers of resources available in the communications network, based on the one or more filter parameters, and sends the obtained identifiers of resources to the client device in response to the received meta interest request. Thereby, a user of the client device can see which resources with the desirable characteristics are available in the network and acquire one of the resources identified in this way, without having to specify the supplier nor the resource in the initial request.

The present disclosure relates to a method for avoiding bandwidth shortage for online meetings in a communication network. The method comprises, via an online event scheduling system, receiving a meeting request for an online meeting from an organizer, said request comprising information about a time slot for said online meeting. The method also comprises determining whether an organization which the organizer belongs to has a meeting token available for said time slot and said number of participants. The method also comprises sending an acknowledgement to the event scheduling system, allowing the event scheduling system to book the online meeting for the participants in the event scheduling system. A finite number of meeting tokens has been provided to the organization based on a communication bandwidth available for said organization, such that a maximum number of concurrent online meetings in the organization is limited by the finite number of meeting tokens.

Methods and devices for maintaining a device-operated function. A first device initially operates as an active master with responsibility to execute the device-operated function by automatically performing one or more operation tasks according to certain operational parameters and gaining knowledge when performing the operation tasks. Meanwhile, a second device is acting as a passive standby device. When the first device cannot or should not operate as the active master anymore, e.g. due to low battery, the responsibility is transferred to the second device by transferring the operational parameters and the knowledge from the first device to the second device. Then, the second device operates as the active master with responsibility to execute the device-operated function according to the operational parameters and using the knowledge if required.

For example, nodeA receives a network packet from serverand forwards the packet to nodeB. NodeA determines an amount of energy consumed by nodeA in processing the packet. NodeA adds this determined energy consumption value to an energy consumption value in a header within the network packet to produce an aggregate energy consumption value and send the network packet with the aggregate energy consumption value to nodeB. NodeB receives the network packet from node. NodeB determines an amount of energy consumed by nodeB in processing the packet. NodeB adds this determined energy consumption value to the energy consumption value in the header within the network packet to produce an aggregate energy consumption value and send the network packet with the aggregate energy consumption value to nodeG. NodeG also adds its determined energy consumption to the aggregate energy consumption value received from nodeB. NodeG sends the packet with the further updated aggregate energy consumption value to communication device. After communication devicereceives the packet, a process running on communication deviceextracts and stores the aggregate energy consumption value. When communication devicereceives another packet related to the first packet, communication deviceextracts, from this second packet, the aggregated energy consumption and sums this new aggregated energy consumption value with the stored aggregated energy consumption value in order to determine a total energy consumption. Thus, the present disclosure provides for determining an aggregate energy consumption value as well providing users of a network with information that makes them aware of how much energy is being consumed to transmit and/or receive content through the network. The energy consumption value for network nodes that cannot determine the amount of energy needed to send one or more network packets may be estimated.
