Methods, apparatus, and systems are described for improved edge network access for a UE. According to some aspects, a UE may receive a first Data Network Name (DNN) from an application and determine, based on a Data Network Name (DNN) Replacement Rule, the first DNN is associated with a second Data Network Name (DNN), where the first DNN and the second DNN are different. The UE may determine, based on the DNN Replacement Rule, to associate traffic from the application with a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) Session, where the PDU Session may be used to send data from the application to a network and the PDU Session is associated with the second DNN.

Enhancements for edge network access for a UE

The present application is at least directed to an apparatus. The apparatus includes a non-transitory memory including instructions stored thereon for configuring a service. The apparatus also includes a processor operably coupled to the non-transitory memory may be configured to execute the instructions of (i) receiving first information for accessing an exposure function; (ii) receiving a request for the service via an application; (iii) creating a request for the service based on the first information; (iv) sending the created request to the exposure function; and (v) receiving a response from the exposure function. The service may include any one or more of buffering, a background data transfer, a communication pattern configuration, sponsored services, reachability, a mobile originating/paging-off mode or value added services. Moreover, the received request includes parameters to configure the service. Further, the second information includes parameters selected from desired time window, desired data transfer size, desire quality of service, indication whether flow is sponsored, maximum cost basis, qualitative measurements and combinations thereof.

Service capability exposure at the user equipment

Apparatus, system, method, and computer-readable medium for cellular system enhancements for the support of multi-SIM user equipments

A user equipment (UE) operating in an 'Onboarding Mode' may search for a network broadcasting Onboarding Capability Information (OCT), then register using onboarding credentials and receive SNPN credentials from the network. The UE may then exit onboarding mode, enter Manual Network Selection or Automatic Network Selection mode, and connect to the SNPN. A UE may also receive from a network a list of PLMNs and SNPNs that are equivalent then, when registering, indicate to the network that a requested slice is not associated with the IJE's HPLMN, but is associated with an SNPN. The network may indicate to the UE how the slices of the network map to the slices of the SNPN, and may indicate whether a slice that is offered by the network only partially maps to a slice of the SNPN or HPLMN.

SNPN onboarding and obtaining SNPN services from a PLMN

Systems and methods are described herein to automate managing of service layer operations comprised of multiple elementary operations and offloading the burden of performing such multi-step operations from a requesting entity to the service layer. A Request Abstraction Service (RAS) is described herein for the autonomous execution of such multi-step operations. Methods and apparatuses are also described herein for a service layer framework for integrating generic and functional user interfaces as services managed by the SL on behalf of requesting entities.

Mechanisms for an intelligent service layer request abstraction service

A subscriber issues a message to a resource host to request subscription to multiple resources. This message may indicate identifiers of these resources, event notification criteria for each individual resource and define cross-resource notification criteria such as time window type and time window size. The present application describes a method and apparatus for managing a service in a service layer. In particular, a method describes a computer readable storage medium including instructions for managing a service in a service layer where the instructions are executed by a processor. The executed instructions cause the processor to receive a request to manage, via a service enabler function of the service layer, a change of state of the service including adding, removing, activating, or deactivating the service. The request may include a service description. The executed instructions also cause the processor to evaluate, via the service enabler function, the service description comprising identifiers of one or more services to manage. The executed instructions further cause the processor to identify one or more service capabilities in the service layer to assist in managing the one or more services identified in the service description. A request may be sent and/or may instruct the one or more service capabilities to perform the change of state of the one or more services identified in the service description.

Network Slice Selection Assistance information (NSSA1) may be signaled between User Equipment (UE) and a network. NSSA1 sent from the network to the UE may include, for example. Operating Frequency Band (OFB) for each Single NSSAI(S-NSSA1) in the NSSAI, as well as a Radio Access Technology (RAT) Frequency Selection Priority (RFSP) index, which the network configures as a part of UE access and mobility; subscription, during a UE registration procedure. RAT restrictions may be enhanced to indicate to the UE that certain slices are not accessible via certain RATs. A UE may be provided by the network with an alternative NSSAI and corresponding OFBs for each S-NSSAI thereby indicating to the UE that these S-NSSAI would have been allowed had they been requested. A UE may be able to choose an alternative Allowed NSSAI and send a registration update request to the network.

Methods, systems, and devices may assist in enhancements to PMF protocol and new ATSSS steering modes to enable support for analytics driven or multi-USIM steering. The following functionalities are disclosed: 1) Enable UEs to use the PMF protocol to provide UE specific data to the NWDAF for analytics purposes; 2) Enable multi-USIM UEs to notify the core network over the user plane of the UE's desire to pause communications with the CN associated with one USIM so the UE can communicate with the CN associated with another USIM; 3) Define new ATSSS steering modes to support data analytics driven steering; and 4) Define new ATSSS steering modes to support Multi-USIM steering, among other things.

Traffic steering enhancements for cellular networks

Radio networks such as Public Land Mobile Networks (PLMNs), user equipment devices (UEs), servers such as Internet-of-Things servers, and core network entities may be adapted to facilitate transfers of connections of wireless devices. For example, a first PLMN may provide restricted access to a UE to assist the UE in finding a second PLMN for a full connection. Entities may be adapted to support for non-coverage related PLMN transfers, such as transfers initiated by UEs, PLMNs, servers, and core network entities, e.g., in response to changing usage, congestion, etc.

Current discovery mechanisms lack capabilities, such as capabilities related to permissions associated with a given registrant for example. In an example embodiment, a registrant of a service layer can communicate with a network node that hosts the service layer. The network node may receive a discovery request for a resource from the registrant. The discovery may request include various context. For example, the context of the discovery request may be indicative of an operation that the registrant intends to perform on the resource, a role that the registrant intends to assume if the registrant accesses the resource, a location in which the registrant intends to access the resource, or a subscription plan that the registrant intends to use if the registrant accesses the resource. Based on the context of the discovery request, the network node may determine whether one or more resources at the service layer satisfy the discovery request.

A novel method for service based network resource allocation is disclosed. In one embodiment, a method is disclosed comprising receiving from a UE at a base station over a Primary Cell (PCell), a request message to perform an action with respect to a Secondary Cell (SCell), the request message including service information. The method then determines a specific action to be performed with respect to the SCell based on the service information. Finally, the method performs the specific action with respect to the SCell at the base station and transmits a connection reconfiguration message to the UE to direct the UE to perform the specific action based on a service to be supported.

Methods, systems, and devices may assist in policy and parameters provision to network to support the redundant transmission configuration using dual connectivity DC. In particular, a PDU session pair information (PSPI) is associated with both a first and second PDU session. The AMF may then forward this to the RAN and first and second SMF. This allows the RAN to associate the two PDU sessions.
