An illuminated window assembly that includes a glass substrate; a light barrier over the substrate having a reflective interior-facing and a tinted exterior-facing surface; a light-diffusing element over the barrier having first and second opposed edges; and an LED source or spaced LED sources configured to direct incident light into the first opposed edge. Further, a thickness of the element at the first opposed edge is greater than a thickness at the second opposed edge. The LED sources can also be directed into both the first and second opposed edges, wherein a thickness of the element at the first and the second opposed edge is greater than a thickness between the opposed edges.

Illuminated window assemblies having light-diffusing elements

This disclosure describes a sensor for detecting vibrations, particularly low-frequency vibrations. The sensor is of a cascaded gapped cantilever construction and may include a single sensing beam extending from a base to a proof mass across the plurality of gaps, a mechanical beam opposite the piezoelectric beam. The sensor may be included in a system including a housing, a support, and electronic components for converting and measuring signal. The sensor may be mounted to an item of furniture, such as a bed or a sofa, and measure physiological data including ballistocardiogram and respiratory data of a subject positioned on the furniture.

Cell culture devices for biomimetic and pathomimetic cell cultures

A system includes a curved window and a light energy emitter arranged exterior to the curved window. The system includes a light energy receiver arranged exterior to the curved window and arranged to detect light energy emitted by the light energy emitter. The light energy passes over a touchpad provided on the curved window. A touch on the touchpad may be detected by the system.

Touch detection on a curved surface

A method of making a flexible, foldable, stretchable electronic device. The method includes deposition of a polymer layer, such as parylene C, to impart flexibility to the device. The device overcomes the limitations of related flexible electronics schemes by employing established silicon-on-insulator complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor technology with a flexible enclosure. Devices made in such a way may be used in a wide variety of applications including incorporation into medical devices.
