Technologies for reference signal indication

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications at a user equipment (UE) are described. Aspects of the described techniques may include the user equipment measuring signal aspects for a plurality of respective receive beams for receiving communications associated with a synchronization signal block transmitted by a base station on a transmit beam. From the measured signal aspects, the UE may determine that a receive beam from the plurality of receive beams is a preferred beam for receipt of communications from the base station transmitted on the transmit beam. With the determined preferred beam, the UE may initiate a beam-sweeping procedure to re-measure the plurality of UE receive beams, where the UE measures the first UE receive beam before measuring others of the plurality of UE receive beams.

Virtual serving beam tracking in millimeter wave wireless systems

A method and apparatus of a device that switches bandwidth parts for a user equipment device and a base station is described. In an exemplary embodiment, the device receives an indication to switch to the bandwidth part for the user equipment on the wireless link from the base station. In addition, the device switches to the new bandwidth part for the user equipment. The device further signals that the switching to the new bandwidth part has occurred in a time period smaller than a predefined time period. The deice additionally communicates information on the wireless link using the new bandwidth part.

Apparatus, methods, and computer-readable media for facilitating UE beam selection based on service demands are disclosed herein. An example method of wireless communication includes determining to select an UL beam having a higher EIRP capability than an EIRP capability associated with a current beam for transmitting on UL when at least one of a target transmit power based on a TPC exceeds an EIRP capability associated with the current beam or when an amount of data in a buffer of the UE is greater than a data threshold. Systems and methods are provided for a user equipment (UE) to perform frequency offset (FO) delta tracking. For an anchor component carrier (CC), the UE wakes up to perform tracking updates on a plurality of successive DRX cycles. For the non-anchor CC, the UE determines a minimum update interval &#x394;t, and schedules wake-ups on a first subset of the plurality of successive DRX cycles based on the minimum update interval &#x394;t. For the first subset of the plurality of successive DRX cycles with scheduled wake-ups, the UE performs the tracking updates on the non-anchor CC and updates an FO delta between the anchor CC and the non-anchor CC. For a second subset of the plurality of successive DRX cycles without the scheduled wake-ups on the non-anchor CC, the UE applies the FO delta to correct for a frequency error.

Methods and apparatus to facilitate user equipment beam selection based on service demands

A user equipment (UE) may monitor multiple beam pair links (BPLs) including a first BPL currently used by the UE to communicate with a network node (e.g., a base station), and a second BPL. The first BPL comprises a first network beam and a first UE beam, and the second BPL comprises a second network beam and a second UE beam. The UE may decide to switch beams from using the first BPL to using the second BPL based on signaling from the network node or autonomously. When the beam switch is made, the UE switches uplink (UL) transmission from over the first UE beam to over the second UE beam. After the beam switch is made, the UE transmits in the UL over the second UE beam using UL timing adjusted based on the first and second propagation delays.

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine, for a candidate UE uplink beam, a transmit power due to a maximum permissible exposure (MPE) constraint; estimate, for the candidate UE uplink beam, a receive power for a base station based at least in part on the transmit power due to the MPE constraint; determine a target receive power for the base station; and select the candidate UE uplink beam as an active UE uplink beam based at least in part on the estimated receive power for the base station and the target receive power for the base station. Methods and apparatuses relate to sounding reference signal (SRS) transmit antenna selection in wireless communication systems. For example, a user equipment (UE) may select, from a set of antennas, a subset of antennas for SRS transmission based on at least one antenna selection parameter. The UE may further transmit, on an uplink communication channel, the SRS using the subset of antennas to a network entity. Techniques for providing transmission throttling for emission exposure management are described. Embodiments implement duty cycle based transmission throttling for emission exposure management. Transmission throttling implemented in accordance with embodiments drops or skips transmission of some portion of transmission blocks of a communication process, such as to drop some transmission blocks providing retransmission of data. Transmit power levels utilized with respect to each of transmission blocks transmitted may be closer to that of a transmit power control target level (e.g., meeting the TPC target level) while nevertheless meeting an emission exposure limit level. Embodiments may, for example, be implemented with respect to a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.
