Video coding and decoding techniques, including history-based motion vector prediction with default parameters, are described. One example video processing method includes resetting, for a conversion between a video unit of a video and a bitstream of the video, a history-based motion vector prediction (HMVP) table of size N by adding K HMVP motion candidates to the HMVP table, where the K HMVP motion candidates have default values, where N and K are positive integers, and where K≤N; and performing the conversion between the video unit and the bitstream using the HMVP table resulting from the resetting.

A mechanism for processing video data is disclosed. A conversion is performed between a visual media data including a video unit and a bitstream. The conversion can be performed by a video encoder and/or a video decoder. The video unit is reconstructed, and a guided filter is applied to reconstructed samples in the video unit.

An exemplary method for visual media processing includes performing a conversion between a current video block of a visual media data and a bitstream representation of the visual media data in accordance with a conditional signaling rule. The method includes determining whether a pair of adjacent blocks of visual media data are both intra block copy (IBC) coded and selectively applying, based on the determination, a deblocking filter (DB) process by identifying a boundary at a vertical edge and/or a horizontal edge of the pair of adjacent blocks. The method further includes calculating a boundary strength of a filter, deciding whether to turn on or off the filter, and selecting a strength of the filter in case the filter is turned on.
