A method for visual media processing is disclosed. The method includes determining whether a pair of adjacent blocks of visual media data are both intra block copy (IBC) coded and selectively applying, based on the determination, a deblocking filter (DB) process by identifying a boundary at a vertical edge and/or a horizontal edge of the pair of adjacent blocks. The method further includes calculating a boundary strength of a filter, deciding whether to turn on or off the filter, and selecting a strength of the filter in case the filter is turned on. The boundary strength of the filter is dependent on a motion vector difference between motion vectors associated with the pair of adjacent blocks.

Boundary strength determination for deblocking filters in video processing

A method of processing video data is described. The method includes performing a conversion between a current video block of a video and a bitstream of the video. A geometric partitioning mode index for the current video block is coded in the bitstream and a binarization of the geometric partitioning mode index is performed according to a rule. The geometric partitioning mode index specifies a geometric splitting shape of a geometric partitioning mode applied to the current video block. The rule specifies that the geometric partitioning mode index is coded with a fixed-length binarization.

High level syntax for inter prediction with geometric partitioning

Techniques for implementing video processing techniques are described. In one example implementation, a method of video processing includes determining, for a conversion between a current block of a video and a bitstream representation of the video, whether a combined inter and intra prediction (CIIP) coding technique is to be applied to the current block based on a characteristic of the current block. The present disclosure relates to interaction between intra block copy mode and inter prediction tools. A method for video processing includes determining that an intra block copy (IBC) mode is applied to a current video block of a video. In the IBC mode, at least one reference picture used by the current video block is a current picture where the current video block is located. The method also includes making a decision regarding a disabling of a specific coding mode for the current block. The specific coding mode uses a motion vector and a non-current picture to derive a prediction of a video block.
