A hybrid method of low light image enhancement in an electronic device comprises downsampling a high resolution, low light image to obtain a low resolution, low light image and inputting the low resolution, low light image into a low light enhancement model of a deep neural network to obtain a low resolution, enhanced image where semantic information such as true colors, edges, and brightness level are recovered. The high resolution, low light image, the low resolution, low light image, and the low resolution, enhanced image are each input into a mathematical model that performs upsampling and super-resolution tasks to generate a high resolution, enhanced image.

An electronic device includes a device housing and at least two grip sensors disposed along the device housing. One or more processors are operable with the at least two grip sensors. At least one electronic latch is operable with the one or more processors. In embodiments of hardware verification with RFID-stored build information, a device includes hardware components and a wireless radio tag to store build information for hardware verification of the hardware components in the device. A bootloader can interrogate the wireless radio tag to obtain the build information and compare the build information to current information of the hardware components in the device. The bootloader can then determine whether the current information matches the build information. If the current information does not match the build information, then the build information for the hardware components can be stored in the wireless radio tag, and functionality of the hardware components in the device is limited.

In embodiments of hardware verification with RFID-stored build information, a mobile device includes hardware components and a radio-frequency identification (RFID) tag to store build information for hardware verification of the hardware components in the mobile device. A bootloader can interrogate the RFID tag to obtain the build information and compare the build information to current information of the hardware components in the mobile device. The bootloader can then determine whether the current information matches the build information. If the current information does not match the build information, then a message can be displayed on the mobile device indicating that unauthorized hardware is installed in the mobile device.

In embodiments of a passive stylus with RFID-enabled sensing, a computing device includes a touchscreen that senses touch contact, and includes an RFID interrogator to interrogate passive RFID tags. The stylus includes a conductive tip designed for interaction with the touchscreen of the computing device. The stylus integrates a pressure sensor that senses pressure when the conductive tip of the stylus contacts the touchscreen. The stylus also includes at least one RFID antenna that is positioned in a body of the stylus to prevent detuning the RFID antenna when the stylus is held for use. The passive RFID tag can receive pressure sensor data from the pressure sensor in the stylus, and the passive RID tag can be read by the RFID interrogator to determine the pressure applied to the conductive tip of the stylus in order determine whether the stylus is contacting the touchscreen or only hovering above it.

Device testing using radio-frequency identification (RFID) is described herein. The testing uses one or more RFID readers that interrogate an RFID tag on a mobile device and, in response to the interrogation, receive data from the RFID tag. The one or more RFID readers, in response to receipt of the data from the RFID tag, transmit a command to execute a test program on the mobile device. The results of the test program are then provided by the mobile device.

Automating device testing using RFID

Silent radio frequency identifier (RFID) state and restore back is described herein. An RFID tag enters a silent state by receiving a sleep command from an RFID reader. While the RFID tag is in the silent state, only an awake command will restore back normal operation of the RFID tag. Other received commands or interrogations from the RFID reader are ignored and responses are not transmitted to the RFID reader.

There is described a portable electronic device capable of detecting false wake conditions, and a method thereof. The portable electronic device comprises a sensor circuit and a display. The sensor circuit detects double tap data associated with user input and motion data subsequent to the double tap data within a predetermined time period. The sensor circuit also determines whether the motion data corresponds to at least one criterion associated with non-user input. The display wakes from a sleep state in response to the sensor circuit determining that the motion data corresponds to the at least one criterion. For some embodiments, the sensor circuit includes a motion sensor to detect the motion data and a sensor hub to determine whether the motion data corresponds to the at least one criterion.

Method for detecting false wake conditions of a portable electronic device

In embodiments of RFID-based power status and battery management, a mobile device includes a radio-frequency identification (RFID) tag that includes a memory to maintain context information associated with the mobile device. The mobile device includes a processing system to execute a power manager and to interface with the RFID tag via a communication bus. The power manager can determine a stowed context of the mobile device based on one or more sensors implemented in the mobile device, and communicate a stowed context indication of the stowed context of the mobile device to the RFID tag to be stored in the RFID tag memory. The power manager can also communicate a power-state indicator of a power on state or a power off state of the mobile device to the RFID tag to be stored in the RFID tag memory.

In embodiments of RFID logic tag, a radio-frequency identification (RFID) logic tag can interrogate multiple RFID tags, such as a first RFID tag that monitors the status of a first item, as well as a second RFID tag that monitors the status of a second item. The RFID logic tag is implemented to then generate a logic signal based on a logic operation applied to the status data received from the RFID tags.

In certain embodiments of radio frequency identification (RFID) operational capability removal, different stages of a life cycle of an RFID integrated circuit (IC) are supported. In one stage, an RFID IC is coupled to an RFID antenna and uses the RFID antenna to communicate wirelessly. In another stage, an operational capability of the RFID IC is removed by coupling a component thereto. For example, a circuit board includes an RFID IC and an RFID antenna operably coupled thereto. During a manufacturing stage of a device, the RFID IC can communicate using the RFID antenna. As part of the device assembly, a device component is mated to the circuit board. Respective electrical connection parts of the circuit board and of the device component are coupled together as part of a mating procedure. The coupling removes an operational capability of the RFID IC, such as a capability to use the RFID antenna.

A method and apparatus for activating a function of the electronic device is disclosed herewith. The method includes detecting a first input by a motion sensor. Further, the method activates a touch sensor of the electronic device in response to detecting the first input. The method then detects a second input by the motion sensor within a predetermined time period from the first input. Next, the method determines, in response to detecting the second input, whether contact has occurred at the touch sensor and activates a function of the electronic device in response to determining that contact has occurred at the touch sensor when the second input is detected.

Device information can be made available when the electronic device is OFF by writing the device information to the second memory.
