Methods and compositions for treating subterranean formations with fluids containing superabsorbent polymer particles are provided. In one embodiment, the methods comprise introducing a treatment fluid into a well bore penetrating at least a portion of a subterranean formation, the treatment fluid including an aqueous base fluid, and one or more superabsorbent polymer particles comprising a plurality of monomers and one or more crosslinkers wherein at least one crosslinker is a labile crosslinker.

Described herein are methods for controlling or limiting the deposition of inorganic sulfide scale in wellbore operations. In some cases, method can include introducing a treatment fluid including a cationic polymeric quaternary amine or a polyethyleneimine polymer into a treatment area of a wellbore having metal cations, such as iron, zinc, and/or lead cations, and sulfide anions and contacting the metal cations and sulfide anions with the treatment fluid to reduce or prevent formation of metal sulfide particles in the treatment area. The polymers can include poly(methacrylamido-4,4,8,8-tetramethyl-4,8-diaza-6-hydroxylnonamethylene dichloride), poly(vinylbenzyl trimethyl ammonium chloride), polydimethyldiallyl ammonium chloride, or quaternized ammonium salt polyethyleneimine.

Controlling metal sulfide scale in drilling operations

Treatment fluids and associated methods for treating a subterranean formation. An example method includes introducing a treatment fluid into a wellbore penetrating the subterranean formation. The treatment fluid includes an oleofuransulfonate surfactant; a treatment fluid additive capable of interaction with a cation; and an aqueous fluid. The cation is present in the treatment fluid or contacts the treatment fluid. The method further includes solvating the treatment fluid additive with the oleofuransulfonate surfactant.

A method of fracturing a subterranean formation penetrated by a well comprises: forming a fracturing composition comprising a carrier fluid; and a superabsorbent polymer component comprising one or more of the following: a first composite of a proppant and a first superabsorbent polymer in an unhydrated form, the first superabsorbent polymer being at least partially embedded in a void area of the proppant; a coated superabsorbent polymer; a superabsorbent material having a three-dimensional network; or a second composite of a second superabsorbent polymer and a slow-release breaker; and pumping the hydraulic fracturing composition into the subterranean formation to create or enlarge a fracture.

Fracturing fluids and methods of treating hydrocarbon formations

A hydraulic fracturing process comprises combining an aqueous carrier with a superabsorbent polymer and a plurality of proppant particles to form a fracturing fluid; and disposing the fracturing fluid in a downhole environment. When the aqueous carrier has a total dissolved solid content of equal to or less than 400 parts per million and a hardness of less than 100 parts per million as calcium carbonate, the superabsorbent polymer comprises particles having a size of about 145 microns to about 600 microns. When the aqueous carrier has a total dissolved solid content of greater than 400 parts per million to less than 8,000 parts per million and a hardness of greater than 100 parts per million to less than 2,500 parts per million as calcium carbonate, the superabsorbent polymer comprises particles having a size of about 145 microns to about 300 microns.
