A SRLTE/Hybrid CDMA management system is provided to facilitate the prioritization and management of shared RF resources among the different SIMs and RATs in a multimode device. The described techniques address a shared single RF resource usage problem in multi-SIM and multimode 3GPP2/3GPP devices that implement an SRLTE or Hybrid CDMA mode in one or more SIMs. Thus, the techniques enable the RATs within an SRLTE or Hybrid CDMA system, and RATs across multiple SIMs, to access a single set of RF resources using a priority access scheme that prioritizes RATs for both packet service (PS) and circuit service (CS).

Multimode device priority access management

A wireless communications device is provided with a plurality of card slots, a first wireless communications module, and a second wireless communications module. The card slots are inserted with at least one subscriber identity card. The first wireless communications module performs wireless transceiving in compliance with at least a first wireless technology. The second wireless communications module determines at least a first subscriber number and a second subscriber number from the at least one subscriber identity card, and enables the wireless transceiving of the first wireless communications module using the first subscriber number. Also, the second wireless communications module performs wireless transceiving in compliance with at least a second wireless technology using the second subscriber number.

Apparatuses and methods for coordinating operations of multiple wireless communications modules with multiple subscriber numbers

Methods and wireless communication devices for access procedure enhancement are provided. The wireless communication device for access procedure enhancement includes a transceiver module and a communication protocol module. The transceiver module performs wireless transmissions and receptions. The communication protocol module receives a page message from a base station via the transceiver module, transmits at least one access probe via the transceiver module, and terminates the transmission of the rest of an access probe payload of the at least one access probe according to a termination criterion. Moreover, the access probe is transmitted using a transmission power which is lower than a first threshold, and the access probe is transmitted at a data rate lower than a second threshold.

Device and method for access probe enhancements

Methods and wireless communication devices for access procedure enhancement are provided. The wireless communication device for access procedure enhancement includes a transceiver module and a communication protocol module. The transceiver module performs wireless transmissions and receptions to and from a network. The communication protocol module divides an access channel into a plurality of narrow band frequency division multiplexing (FDM) channels, groups a plurality of reverse link FDM access channels (R-FACH) into a plurality of R-FACH groups, determines whether a base station in a network supports an access probe. If yes, the base station joins at least one R-FACH group. The wireless communication device sends the access probe in a chosen R-FACH during each access procedure.

Mobile communication devices and integrated circuits thereof are provided. The mobile communication device, communicating with a packet switched network and a second network, includes a transceiver, a first PLL circuit and a controller. When exchanging an ongoing data transmission with the packet switched network, the transceiver transmits a first message to the packet switched network, which indicates the mobile communication device will be tuned away from the packet switched network, and performs a subsequent procedure for the second network. The first PLL circuit provides a first clock to the transceiver. When the ongoing data transmission with the packet switched network is not completed, the controller controls the first PLL circuit to switch the first clock from a first clock frequency to a second clock frequency after the transceiver transmits the first indication message.

Mobile communication device and integrated circuit thereof

A method is provided for coupling a plurality of access nodes wirelessly to a plurality of access terminals. The method includes dividing up a carrier frequency into a plurality of subbands; scheduling one or more access terminals to share one of the plurality of subbands; and via one of the plurality of access nodes, first communicating with the one or more access terminals over the one of the plurality of subbands. The communicating includes, within the one of the plurality of subbands, time division multiplexing interlaces corresponding to each of the one or more access terminals.

MIMO OFDMA and preamble design

A system and method of enhancing transmission of highly detectable pilots (HDPs). At least one base station transmits at least one cellular signal in which each cellular signal includes repetitive HDP cycles. Each HDP cycle has a duration of N power control groups (PCGs) and includes an HDP period having a duration of M PCGs in which N is greater than M. Traffic and overhead channels are gated during each HDP period. An enhanced HDP symbol is transmitted during a selected HDP period for each set of X HDP cycles of each cellular signal. For single carrier configurations, only one enhanced HDP is transmitted at a time, or multiple HDPs are transmitted in different directions. Standard 1x pilots may be transmitted. The enhanced HDP may be a boosted standard 1x pilot or an additional standard HDP pilot. Multicarrier configurations are described with PCG or sub-chip and/or phase offsets.

System and method of enhanced pilots for improved mobile station positioning

An apparatus for performing a soft handoff including a power estimator, cell selector, and feedback channel generator. The power estimator receives a plurality of pilot signals that each correspond to an associated base station within an active set registry, and estimates a power level for each of the plurality of pilot signals. The cell selector is coupled to the power estimator, and is configured to select one or more base stations within the active set registry for selective blanking of a corresponding one or more of the plurality of pilot signals during a soft handoff operation. The feedback channel generator is coupled to the cell selector, and is configured to generate a cell selection feedback signal indicating the one or more base stations, where the cell selection feedback signal is subsequently transmitted to the one or more base stations, and where the cell selection feedback signal directs the one or more base stations to perform the selective blanking.

Simultaneous use of multiple phone numbers in mobile device by sharing hardware

A first communication device wirelessly coupled to a second communication device. The first communication device includes a first receiver, a message processor, and a first transmitter. The first receiver is configured to receive first signals corresponding to a first number of communication devices, where the second communication device is one of the communication devices, and is also configured to measure first strengths of the first signals. The message processor is configured to determine that a second number of the communication devices can be processed by the first communication device according to the first strengths measured. The first transmitter is configured to transmit one or more first messages to the second communication device indicating the second number.

Apparatus, method and system for reduced active set management

A wireless communication system including a receiver and a transmitter. The receiver receives a frame of data, and sends an acknowledgement. The acknowledgement includes a positive acknowledgement (ACK) if the data is successfully decoded or a negative acknowledgement (NAK) if the data is unsuccessfully decoded. The acknowledgement is sent according to timing of an acknowledge mask. The transmitter is wirelessly coupled to the receiver, and receives the acknowledgement according to the acknowledge mask, and sends a response to the receiver according to the acknowledgement. The response includes, if an ACK is received before transmission completes of the frame, the transmitter terminates transmission of the frame; if a NAK is received before transmission completes of the frame, the transmitter continues to send the frame; and if an ACK is not received before a predefined frame early scheduling point, the transmitter retransmits the frame after transmission completes of the frame.

The first transmitter is configured to transmit first power control bit information to the base station over a reverse link. The first transmitter has a timeline manager, configured to transmit the first power control bit information at a first rate according to a first pattern within a frame. The first receiver is configured to receive second power control bit information from the another communication device over a forward link. The first receiver has an adaptive controller, configured to determine the first rate and the first pattern. The first rate and the first pattern are selected from a plurality of rates and patterns available for transmission of the first power control bit information and the second power control bit information.
