An electronic device having a display and a sensor and methods for operating the same are provided. The electronic device includes a housing, a display disposed on a surface of the housing, a sensor mounted under the display inside the housing to detect light received through the display, and a processor electrically connected with the display and the sensor, wherein the processor is configured to determine an illuminance of an outside of the housing using detection data obtained by the sensor while the display displays an image and relevant information between the display and the sensor.

Electronic device having display and sensor and method for operating the same

A method for controlling display by an electronic device is provided. The method includes, when a predetermined number or more same frame data are consecutively generated, storing the same frame data in a storage of a display driving module by an application processor, stopping transmitting frame data to the display driving module, and scanning the frame data stored in the storage and outputting to a display panel by the display driving module.

A display device which prevents or minimizes the occurrence of flicker is provided. The display device includes a display panel having pixels, with data lines and gate lines that are respectively connected with the pixels. A display driving circuit is configured to vary a frame frequency of the display panel according to an operation mode, to select a gamma curve corresponding to the frame frequency. The selected gamma curve is one among gamma curves that are set so as to correspond to different frame frequencies. The display panel is driven based on the selected gamma curve.
