Methods, media, and systems are provided for enhanced selective attestation of wireless communications. The methods, media, and systems are configured to receive, from a wireless communication network, a request to establish a communication session with a computing device. The request is associated with destination identification data. Additionally, a determination is made as to whether the destination identification data corresponds to a geographic area other than the geographic area associated with the wireless communication network. Based on the determination: the destination identification data is verified using a set of permissible destination identification data or a set of permissible Service Provider IDs. Attestation is then performed in response to verifying the destination identification data using the set of permissible destination identification data or the set of permissible Service Provider IDs.

Enhanced selective attestation of wireless communications

System and methods for routing requests for both assisted communications and non-assisted communications with devices operated by deaf or hard-of-hearing (DHH) users using a single number are described. A network component may determine whether to use routing that directs such requests to an assistance system based on the type of communications requested and one or more identifiers in a request. If a communications request includes a DHH user device's identifier and communications type that are represented in assistance routing data, the network component may forward that request to an assistance system. Otherwise, the network component may route such a request normally. A DHH user may request a suspension of the assistance routing for a period of time and/or until reinstatement of the assistance routing is requested.

Single number communications accessibility

In a wireless communication network, a user server receives the user information from an inviting user for presentation to an invited user. A Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) server receives an originating SIP invite to the invited user from the inviting user and transfers a request to the user server for the user information from the inviting user for the invited user. The user server responds with the user information from the inviting user for the invited user. The SIP server transfers a terminating SIP invite for the invited user from the inviting user that has the user information from the inviting user for the invited user. A User Equipment (UE) receives terminating SIP invite and responsively presents the user information from the inviting user to the invited user.

The present disclosure describes techniques for determining whether a communication request is associated with a legitimate communication or spoof communication, prior to establishing the connection. A Parallel Path Caller Verification (PPCV) controller is described that is configured to intercept a communication request from an originating device and generate a proof-of-identity (PoI) message for delivery to the originating device. Upon receipt of a reply message that is responsive to the PoI message, the PPCV controller may determine whether the communication is a legitimate communication. If the communication is determined as legitimate, the PPCV controller may establish a communication based on the communication request.

Parallel path caller verification controller

An anchoring network device of a telecommunications network can receive a first initiation request of a communication session and determine a second request indicating a different media capability than the first request. A network gateway can modify packets of the session, e.g., by transcoding between the capabilities. In some examples, the anchoring device can determine that a codec list of the initiation request corresponds to a rewrite rule. The device can apply the rewrite rule to the request to provide a second request listing a second, different codec. In some examples, the anchoring device can determine if there is a common media capability between the first initiation request and a predetermined exclusion list. If not, the second request can include at least one capability not in the first request, e.g., an Enhanced Voice Services (EVS) Channel-Aware-mode (ChAw) codec.

The actions further include determining screening data based on screening the telephone call according to the level of screening. The actions further include providing, for output, the screening data.

The present disclosure describes techniques for detecting and mitigating a spoof communication within a network, such as a Session Internet Protocol (SIP) network. More specifically, a SIP server, may receive a call request to initiate a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) communication between an originating device and a recipient device. In response, the SIP server may analyze registration data associated with a subscriber account of the originating device, and in doing so, infer whether the call request is a spoof communication.

Mitigation of spoof communications within a telecommunications network

Systems and methods for preventing a robocall from leaving a voicemail are described. When an incoming call without a history information header (HIH) destined for a subscriber is detected, the incoming call is prevented from leaving a voicemail if the subscriber does not answer the incoming call. If the incoming call has the HIH, additional determination process based on a visited network address of the subscriber is performed to determine whether the incoming call is to be prevented from leaving a voicemail.

System and method for preventing robocall voicemail deposit

The present disclosure describes techniques for verifying an identity of an originating device that initiates a VoIP communication with a recipient device. Specifically, an attestation parameter module is configured to detect a call request associated with a VoIP communication that is initiated by an originating device. The attestation parameter module may authenticate an identity of the originating device, and in doing so, insert an attestation parameter into an identity header of a modified SIP INVITE message sent to the recipient device. In response to receiving the modified SIP INVITE message with the attestation parameter, the telecommunication network associated with the recipient device may verify the identity of the originating device based on the attestation parameter included within the SIP INVITE message. In some examples, the attestation parameter module may generate and insert an attestation parameter within a modified SIP INVITE message that is initiated in a SIP/non-SIP telecommunication network.

A Secure Telephony Identity (STI) proxy server is described for intercepting incoming Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) communication requests for the purpose of mitigating an effect of fraudulent and nuisance VoIP communications. The STI proxy server may facilitate an STI verification server in verifying an authenticity of an originating network associated with an incoming call request. In one example, the STI proxy server may verify that the visited network is permitted to interact with the home network, based on a list of permissible networks. In addition, the STI proxy server may determine whether public STI certificates associated with an originating network have expired or set to expire within a predetermined time interval. In response to an actual o impending expiration, the STI proxy server may facilitate retrieval of a superseding, new public STI certificate for use by an STI authentication server to digitally sign an outgoing SIP INVITE messages.

Secure telephone identity (STI) certificate management system

The present disclosure describes techniques for selective attestation of a wireless communication session between an originating device and destination device. Attestation of the originating device identity depends in part on determining that the destination network associated with the destination device deploys a STIR/SHAKEN framework for end-to-end authentication and assertion of a telephone identity. This disclosure describes techniques to verify that the destination network has deployed the STIR/SHAKEN framework based on the administrative operator carrier number (AOCN) or operator carrier number (OCN) of the destination network. In response to determining the destination network has deployed the STIR/SHAKEN framework, a carrying node is configured to selectively generate instructions to include an attestation of an identity of the originating device in the SIP INVITE message sent to the destination network.

Selective attestation of wireless communications

Systems and methods for classifying and routing an inbound call using ENUM queries are described. When a calling party initiates an inbound call, an Interconnect Session Border Controller (I-SBC) may generates a query for a calling party number (CgPN) and a called party number (CdPN) to search CgPN information and personal number block (PNB) information in a first E.164 Number to URI Mapping (ENUM) database. If the I-SBC is able to check the CgPN using the first ENUM database, the I-SBC may set a parameter of the inbound call to a first status to avoid further checking. Otherwise, the I-SBC may set the parameter to a second status, and the inbound call, tagged with a service provider identification (SPID) number associated with the classification found in one or more of the ENUM databases, is processed based on the SPID.

Efficient robocall/scam identification with verification function

A request is received to suspend providing scam protection to a user device that initiated an outgoing emergency voice call or an outgoing emergency communication message to a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). Scam protection for the user device is suspended for a predetermined time period, which allows the PSAP to make return emergency voice calls or send return emergency communication messages to the user device without the scam protection server marking the return emergency voice calls as a scam voice call or marking the emergency communication messages as a scam message during the predetermined time period.

Scam mitigation back-off

The present disclosure describes techniques for detecting and mitigating a spoof communication within a network, such as a Session Internet Protocol (SIP) network. Determination and mitigation of spoof communication may be performed by a spoof mitigation module associated with a Home Public Land Mobile Network (HPLMN). A server, such as a SIP server, may receive a call request (i.e. SIP INVITE message) from an originating device to initiate a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) communication with a recipient device. In response to the originating device being associated with a HPLMN subscriber account, the server may determine an origin network of the SIP INVITE message and compare the origin network with a most recent instance of registration data associated with the originating device and recorded within the HPLMN. A match indicates that the call request is likely reliable. A mismatch may indicate that the call request is likely a spoof communication.

Technologies for network configuration using dynamic voice codec and feature offering are described herein. A translation codec is used to allow a device capable of using enhanced voice services to use the enhanced voice services when communicating with a device that is not capable of using enhanced voice services.
